Your fortune in a cup
IN Turkey, there's much more to coffee than just drinking an aromatic brew. In addition to being a strong stimulant, it foretells the future, too.
Tiny cups turned upside down are a familiar sight in places wherever Turkish coffee is served, be it a yuppie alfresco café in Istanbul or the simple village shack near the ancient ruins of Ephesus where little old ladies gather for their evening chat.

i didnt think that this would be as popular as it is in TR. considering that TR is mainly an islam- dominated country i would have thought that "fortune telling" such as this would be frowned upon. is it not a sin in islam to try and determine the future in ways like this?

Offf Miss C, what a delight to actually tell YOU something about Turkey
Fortune telling is massively popular in Turkey, everyone I know likes to have a little dabble. Anyway, since Islam fundamentally says that our futures are pre-destined by Allah when we are born, then maybe fortune telling is not as incompatible with Islam as you think. But, as a non- muslim giving this opinion, I'm sure someone will have something else to say about this.

Kadir had his fortune told when his (female) friends pushed him to do so when they were out for a drink
Must admit that i was well chuffed with the results and needed to reconsider my vision upon the fortune in a cup!
