İ mean is there any Turkish poems or something talking about teachers efforts or something ?

''öğretmenler günü'' november 24, and u can say ''öğretmenler gününüz kutlu olsun''...

ÖĞRETMENİM,
büyük millet olmak neden,
Temeli hep ğretmen,
Çok okumak hevesim,
sevgili öğretmenim,

cehaleti yenmek için,
bütün yurda göç eyledin,
gelecek nesil senin eserin,
sevgili öğretmenim,

24 kasım gunu
çiçekle dolar elin,
ellerinden öperim,
sevgili ögretmenim,

I had written this peom when I was at secondary school to apply ''peom competition'' for the ''öğretmenler günü'' and I was 3nd and was awarded in giresun in 1986

Is this day special for Turkey or does it exist in other countries as well? I never heard of it in Holland, and I am a teacher.

MrX67: slaves? I hope not that my language students (of which some Turkish men) think that....

Its not only in Turkey. They have it in Syria too. Actually the girl in our class who came up with the idea was from Syria She said they do it every year too.

We bought flowers and 2 pasta en we ate and drank all together and took pictures. The teacher was really happy, she even cried a bit, as she didnt expect it from a class full of foreigners It was really nice!

i no its late but i thought you might like it

dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!

And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!

When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
To help us understand His world
And truly comprehend
The beauty and the wonder
Of everything we see,
And become a better person
With each discovery.

When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
To show us ways in which to grow
So we can all decide
How to live and how to do
What's right instead of wrong,
To lead us so that we can lead
And learn how to be strong.

Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
Was to help us learn to make our world
A better, wiser place.

God understood our thirst for
knowledge, and our need to be led
by someone wiser;
He needed a heart of compassion,
of encouragement, and patience;
Someone who would accept
the challenge regardless of the
opposition;
Someone who could see potential
and believe in the best in others . . .
So He made Teachers

Teacher's Prayer
Lord, Please help me,
To strengthen their voices,
bodies and minds,
To express their feelings and
control them sometimes,
To explore what's near
and venture afar,
But most important to love
who they are.

hope you can use some of them some time

teachers are a truely wounderful thing

xxxxxxxxxxx

Teachers truly wonderful? Even though I am one myself, I do not think we all are. Sometimes I loose my patience but does that make me a bad teacher? I don't think so, it makes me human. Teaching is just a job, nothing special. The person who is a teacher can make it special but not automatically like all teachers are saints.

I agree with MrX67. Teachers are role models for students. Being a teacher is not simply teaching what should be taught in the list of the courses. It is also teaching the students about life, about values which are appreciated for centuries. It is also being a psychological support on the students. But people become teachers just to make money lately. I had a Turkish literature teacher when I was going to high school. One day she told me so:
"Once you inhale the dust of that chalk, you can never give up this profession" (she was talking about being a teacher)
She was a true teacher. She was so kind to call her 16 year old students as "SIZ" instead of "SEN" because of her respect to us, as a human being.
How many teachers like her left in the school, I don't know. But I was one of the lucky kids to get good education from true teachers (not all of them of course, there is always a few rotten ones in a bag)
My mother was a teacher and hopefully I will become a teacher when I graduate!

WHERE, WHICH COUNTRY PAYS THEIR TEACHERS SO THAT IT IS CONSIDERED A LUCRATIVE AND GOOD FINANCIALLY STABLE CAREER? TELL ME AND I'LL PACK MY BAGS, BOX OF CHALKS TONIGHT AND HEAD THERE FIRST FLIGHT OUT! When I told my dad I was going to teach he cried and told me, "Why are you gonna do that? You're gonna be poor your whole life!" Up unto his death he was still telling me, "You know, it's not to late to go to law school!"

Poor or not...I LOVE MY JOB!!!

It is not the matter for laugh. Not all the people are "lucky" to teach in England. What does it mean, that English children should be educated because they live in rich country, and children in other countries... who cares for them? No, the teachers who work for small salaries and still do their job should be respected as saints! In my country, teachers have the same salaries as people who clean the streets, or even smaller. Not fair, for you must have Univesity degree for teaching and 8 classes of school for cleaning the streets. And still, educated people from East go to West to work as cleaners... I should cry, not laugh.

My sincere respect to Capoeira.

Duda are you saying that English children get well tutored?

one thing I have to say about that.......!!!

England isn't the best place for learning or teaching, and the salary in England is not that good either.

But I agree...hats off to Capo ...Teaching is alot of fun though....well the kids I taught were great! Ooooh I do miss teaching

'lucky' to teach in england..here teachers are also paid a very poor wage and also need a degree in the subject they have to teach..the salary may be higher than your country but you can rest assured that so are living costs..thats what people forget when they talk about english wages..the costs are higher as well..
anyway, i've wanted to be a teacher for as long as i can remember and have experience in three schools.the most rewarding thing about being a teacher is giving someone that chance to show their potential..at the end of the day only the student can make the final decision
