Hi natish
I could be in a similar situation come next summer 2007, my girlfriend is from Istanbul and although I am still in England the best solution is for me to move there, I was thinking same as you that when I move there I would have no friends or anyone to be able to chat with or meet up with, I have of course her friends and family. I have a Russian friend so can speak a little Russian, good luck

I communicate with friends of my husband, but it is not enough.. I dont feel myself comfort with them.. Because they are dont have same problems as i have here.. And i need to speak with people who really can understand me..i want to share and discuss problems with people who are too foreign here.. When you will come to Turkey, if you need my help, just write to me.. I think in summer 2007 i will know this country better..

PS. sorry for my english

Hello (Merhaba)

I moved to turkey monday 11th of december 2006.

I am currently living in tekirdag 60km west of istanbul.

I moved here for a new life after getting tired of england and wanting to enjoy a better life for my self and soak up the turkish culture and life style.

I too have a girlfriend and future wife.
I am currently looking in to getting a 1 year visa and looking in to work permit too.

My first port of call is getting what they call a appartment and then job and at the same time learning turkish with help from my girlfriend.

if any of u wish to talk i am more than happy to try and help.... and would love some advice on subjects i have flagged.

and as a after thought i have a phone i brought from england and placed in a telsim and found out my phone is illegal, if u have any knowledge on how to register my phone so i can use it i would thank u lots.....

Good luck with your new life I will be doing something similar in the future.

Concering your phone I'm sorry to say but you need to buy a phone in Turkey. Since last year you had to re-register it or something and pay a small fee to prevent it from closing but in my experience your phone will keep closing no matter how many times you pay the fee.
I don't know why, just that it's something the mobile network companies have come up with it. I'm surprised it's not illegal.

Is that strictly necessary? I don't think so . Don't you think it would be rather hypocritical to change your religion just because you are getting married?!
