PART 35
‘‘Yeter, be dostum!
Bir an dağılan zihnimi toparlayarak, yeniden Şahid’in anlattıklarına yoğunlaşmayı denedim. Dostum, koluma dokundu ve mahcup bir tavırla:
- Umarım, şahsî problemimi anlatarak sizi sıkmıyorum, Fatih?’’ dedi. Galiba, çaprazımızdaki masaya yönelttiğim masum dikkatimi fark etmişti. Gerçeği açıklamak, vakit alacaktı. Gülümseyerek cevap verdim kendisine:

PART 35

Shahid had been caught and was talking continuously. On one side his excitement and his wonderful experiment I have never lived was rising my interest- even was making me jealous-; on the other hand I couldn't refrain from finding the situation a little childish and a little exaggerated. "That's enough Shahid!" I said to myself. "Come on, stop it my friend! Who's that beauty of the twenty first century; say it so we'll know..."
I was just about to express my thoughts, when I noticed that the young Kyrgyz beauty, who came after us with the group of four and were sitting on the table diagonal to ours, was pointing at me and whispering with the girl sitting next to her. When they saw that I was looking at them carefully they both smiled. The inviting hint in the smile of the Kyrgyz girl didn't escape from my eyes. The courage of these girls was really amazing. How could they court another man without minding the men with them! If it happened in our country, even this little glance, God forbid, was more than enough for causing blood shed...
Pulling my mind which had scattered for a moment together, I tried to concentrate again with what Shahid was saying. My friend touched my sleeve and said with a bashful expression:
- I hope that I'm not boring you with telling my personal problem, Fatih?
It seemed that he noticed my innocent interest towards the table across. Clarifying the truth would take some time. I answered him smiling:

Quoting Ayla:

PART 35

Shahid had been caught and was talking continuously.

Ayla, 'kendini kaptırmak' means 'to do something with excitement'. So, here is my attemt:

Shahid, appearing very excited, was talking continuously.

PART 36

- Hayır dostum!.. Ne münasebet! Lütfen, devam et.. Seni dinliyorum..

PART 36

- No my friend! .. No way (that's impossible)! Please continue... I'm listening to you...
- Yes my dear Fatih... I'm talking about Ludmila. Do you know God's special* creation of beauties... Well Ludmila is one of them. Would you condemn me if I confess, that I find lots of work related reasons to sit near her table just to seize the opportunity to see her sea-blue eyes up close? Would you believe me if I told you, that at those short happy moments, when listening to the velvet softness of her voice... while watching the loveliness of her smile, I forget myself? My dear brother, do you think that the name of this situation I'm living, is love? And if it is not, what do you think it is? Shahid quietened and looked at me with asking eyes. What was I supposed to say now? What should I say? My guess turned out to be true. The woman he loved was Luda... The head of Foreign Languages Department Luda... The beautiful, likeable, joyful and smart Luda... But could these characteristics elevate the woman he said he loved to the high location for Shahid, whom I saw as an extraordinary man? Or maybe by the influence of the situation he was in, Shahid was idealizing Luda a little? And maybe my friend had seen in her some superior qualities that I couldn't notice... Because I have never considered this lovely girl as a woman I could be with.

* I'm not sure about "özene bezene"

Quoting Ayla:

PART 36

Ayla! I attempted to correct some sentences in your translation. Here it is,

- No my friend! .. No way (that's impossible)! Please continue... I'm listening to you...
- Yes, my dear Fatih... I'm talking about Ludmila. You know there are some unique beauties who have been created by God with special care. Well, Ludmila is one of them. Would you condemn me if I confess, that I make up lots of reasons related with work to sit near her table just to seize the opportunity to see her sea-blue eyes up close? Would you believe me if I told you, that at those short happy moments, when listening to the velvet softness of her voice... while watching the loveliness of her smile, I forget myself? My dear brother, do you think that the name of this situation I'm living, is love? And if it is not, what do you think it is?'

You are welcome, Ayla. Here is PART 37,

Şahid’in gözleri, merak ve endişeyle üzerime yönelmişti.

PART 37,

Shahid's eyes were turned towards me with anxiety and worry. Once again I thought that I had been in a rather crucial situation. At that moment I felt an irresistible wish to escape rising in me. To get up and get out of the cafe... and to go away as far as possible... But I couldn't do it... I could never do that either... The expression on my friend's face was saying: "Please approve of me... Tell me that I haven't made a mistake falling in love with that girl!... You too repeat that she is a person worth my love!"... It was clear that I didn't have much choice. A negative comment could cause Shahid a complete disappointment. I had to give him a honest, but at the same time well thought reply. Besides, I could see that I didn't have much time to think.
- My friend!" I said, looking into his eyes. "You are a person who can't role play. I know that and that's why I believe deeply that what you've said was sincere. Yes, according to me too the experience you are living is love... You are a lucky person, my friend Mr. Shahid! I haven't ever lived love that fully. God sometimes creates love heroes like you, and sometimes just observers or those heros' story writers like me. What can I say... The creator is Him! The way he wants, that's how he creates..."
