PART 44

The next morning when I got up the time was almost twelve. It was Saturday... the day of week I liked best.. I tried to nap for another half an hour; but in vain... Chinya wasn't leaving me alone. The naughty bird perched upon my pillow; and was twittering and pulling my hair. It was obvious that he (it) wanted me to pay attention to him. A friend had given this cute lovebird to me as a gift three months ago. In the evenings, when I came back from work and entered the door, he would get out of his always open cage, come and perch upon my head. And I, as soon as I had changed my clothes, I would leave him at home alone; go out for dinner and when I came back in the middle of the night I would wear my pajamas and enter my bed. Lately I was frequently thinking that I hadn't been able to reserve enough time for the poor bird and I was getting sad because of it.
I got up. I gave Chinya his feed. I shaved, took a shower and wearing a sports outfit I got out. There was a sunny but cold weather outside. The time was almost two and I still haven't eaten breakfast. I took my car from the parking lot and drived to Yusa Restaurant. In local cafes and restaurants menues, unfortunately, A Turkish style breakfast didn't have a place. Yusa was one of the very few Turkish restaurants in the city, and it acquired a special position for itself in Bishkek rightfuly, because of it's kitchen, and as much for it's wholesome atmosphere and the quality of their service.

PART 45,

PART 45

When I got in, I saw that almost all of the Manas University academic staff were there. Some came with their spouses; and the single ones were spreaded among the tables in groups. I greeted the ones I knew, passed by them and joined my single friends that were seated by one of the most strategic tables in the room. They were the permanent teaching staff employees of different faculties of Manas University.
Serkan was an engineer. Even though he didn't have an academic background, he was brought as an assistant dean to the Engineering Department. Even though he was young, he became quite an expert on the subject of protecting his own interests. He would try to impress young girls with his tallness, his good clothes and his sports Mercedes car; but because of the dryness of his inner world, he couldn't manage to establish a long term relationships with any of the girls he went out with. The strong and experienced character image he tried to dress upon a week personality, looked as a too large outfit on him. Lately I've been feeling rather bothered with his show-off manners and began to put a distance between us.

Part 46,
İsmet, İngilizce okutmanıydı. On iki yıldır bu coğrafyadaydı.

Part 46

Ismet was an English lecturer. He'd been in this area for the last twelve years. He was one of the eldest Turkish veterans in Kyrgyzstan. He had taught in different Turk highschools; completed his doctorate degree in a university in Kazahstan and approximately five years ago had been included in the teaching staff members of Manas University. There was just one word in the dictionary to describe this extremely clever man: strange. Yes, Ismet was a strange man. No one knew what he'd been doing outside workhours and how he spent his time. Sometimes he wouldn't been seen around for days; when I looked for him he would say "I have work to do bro, I'm busy"; and then, ten minutes later he would suddenly appear next to me. Sometimes he would feel like it and invite me to a meal; and in the middle of the meal saying "Brother! I have a strong headache, I have to go!", he would leave quickly. He spoke Russian better than his mother tongue and better than English, which was his profession. He spoke the three languages so fast that whoever listened had to make him repeat each sentence. Like Serkan, he too was ready to make any kind of sacrifice in order not to lose his job. He would never take a risk; at the moment he sensed danger, he would keep his real thoughts and feelings to himself. Both these two men were experts on the issue of "using people". In order to achieve their goals they would win the necessary people's hearts with expertise and with their help they would surely got what they wanted. The only difference between Ismet and Serkan was that, believing that he was doing his show not because he wanted to but because he had to, he did it "reluctantly". Because I knew that I couldn't be angry with him. Furthermore he tried to act honestly insofar as he was able to towards me. Whenever I needed I found him by my side. It was as if we became big brother- younger brother. As for Serkan, he was playing his role without carrying any guilt feelings. Above all, he had a superiority style he was aiming to his friends, which made me revolted.

PART 47, (Ayla, I am going to İstanbul and will not be here for two days. Therefore, this post is a little longer.)

-Ooo, hocam! Hoş geldiniz! Ne var ne yok? Biz de yemeğimizi yedik.. tam kalkmak üzereydik.’’
Her zamanki ukalâ üslup!.. Sanki ben, onun için buraya gelmişim gibi.. ‘‘Aman dostum!

PART 47

The third person at the table was a young man named Oktay. He was a lecturer in the Tourism and Journalism Institution of Higher Education. Recently, in addition to teaching, he was carrying on with his doctorate studies. He was of middle height and rather overweight. Only his pleasant and continuously smiling looking face created an invisible likeable halo around him and attracted especially the attention of young girls to him. Oktay was a clean and an elegant dresser, a polite young man. He would speak little and wouldn't talk if not asked. I liked him especially for this reason. Almost every night, when I got out to eat, we would often meet at café's and sit together. Because he didn't drive me crazy with unnecessary talk, I preferred to sit with him. When I sat at the table, the first one to speak as usual was Serkan. He saw himself as the group leader and certainly to speak first was his own right (!?). As if he hasn't noticed that I had drew far from him, he asked, putting on an intimate expression:
- Ooo, my teacher! Welcome! What's up? We have already eaten our meal... we were just about to get up."

PART 47 (continued)

A wiseacre style as always!... As if I came here for him... "For goodness sake my friend! Please stay a little longer! If you go what would I do here all by myself!" I muttered to myself. At once I regressed:
- My dear Serkan! I didn't come here thinking that you were here anyway. You can get up whenever you like. Please don't change your plans because of me!...
Serkan's face was expressing complete defeat. As for Ismet and Oktay, I noticed that a mild smile appeared on their faces. They knew that Serkan deserved these words. I felt that they were both happy when from time to time I taught a lesson to that show-off fool, who acted as if superior towards them continuously. In order to save his situation, Serkan made another attempt:
- No, my teacher! I swear that we don't have another plan... If you like we can sit a little longer.
- No, my dear Serkan. I don't want anything. Whenever you wish you can get up" I answered to him with a cold voice tone. Then I turned to Nazira the waitress who came to us at that very moment and was waiting to take my order, and began to list my requests:

PART 48,

I only have time for about sentence, but am interested in this.

(Waiting to eat or eating while waiting). My attempt;

While waiting to eat, from there and her conversations we started and finally our constant chatting bantering remained.
