what if you are caught in making a decision and your heart is telling you to stay but your mind is dictating that if you would stay it will not be good for you??? would u use your heart, or use or mind???

In love matters, I will listen to my heart for sure. From my experience, my heart never put me in a spot.
In other cases, I will listen to what my mind tells me.

I will follow my mind 'cos it is wiser than my heart. Scientifically, you know that the brain is the one responsible for almost everything in our body even the heart (like the thalamus which makes us feel love), right? So.. why should I stay if it's not good for me to do that? I rather leave and start a new life than stay for nothing. Anyway, we are given the freedom to choose over what is good and better.. and with this situation? It is better to leave.

Which of which, you think, will make you happy? Go for it without regrets. A wrong choice leads to a painful consequence. A good choice gives a blessing.. and whatever it is that makes you happy will always make you a better person.

hhmmmmm...ok i will give a situation!!!
there are childhood friends, they have loved each other since they were young but they never got the chance to tell each other after being friends for years the gurl got married coz she thought that the guy has no feeling for her and is only seeing her her as a firend and sisterso she got married to another guy when she was 18. even she got married, she never forget him even they do not have communication. the guy he never got involved with anybody since she got married. then after 4 years the gurl's marriage failed. the husband left her for another gurl. after that she approach her bestfriend and told him she never 4get him. he said he still inlove with her too but the problem is he is in a relationship with somebody else almost one year that time. so she left the country to forget, let him go and moved on. she met somebody else there, accepted her, loved her...after 2 months together with her bf, she got an email from her bestfriend saying, he loves her still and he never forgets her and he can never lie to himself anymore and cannot continue his relationship to his gf because it's her that he loves. she turned him down even she never stopped loving him because she doesn't want to hurt her bf now and her best friend's gf. and on the other hand she's happy with the man with him now..the only thing is she never forget about him...
her heart is telling her that it is still better to choose her best friend because they know each other for long time and mutually loving each other even they are far away and no communication. but her mind is telling her it's not right to do so...
so now...tell me??? heart over mind or mind over heart???

I can see where non Turkish speakers get confused on issues related to LOVE. How can one ever fall in love, with a language say like English, where love is assumed to operate either from the brain or the heart ?

Love is an abstract notion that is way too noble to reside in mere lumps of blood&tissue.

As always, the wise old language of Turks offer the solution: LOVE is nested neither in the brain nor the heart. Neither is wide enough.

Turkish language suggests that LOVE resides in and operates from one's 'GÖNÜL'.

If you can ever figure out what exactly GÖNÜL is, let me know too.

That is it guys,

'GÖNÜL' must be a combination one's mind and heart, in an abstract and spiritual sense...sort of like a joint-venture

Mis Ceyda..
The beginning of a Turkish song for you; may come in handy one day, if you can figure out what it means.

Gönlümün sahibi sensin,
Orda yanlız sen varsın...
Benim için sen herşeysin,
Neş'esin, baharsın...

Ömür geçip de saçlarıma
Beyazlar dolsa bile,
Benim için sen herşeysin
Neş'esin, baharsın...

Well.. this is just a Filipina trying to advise another Filipina in a Filipino's point of view. That's why I also said that we are rational beings. I think I can relate more on Anna. As a woman and as a Filipina.. we have a lot in common.
BTW, Anna remember when the elders said: "Kaya nga nakalagay yang utak mo na mas mataas dyan sa puso mo para mas sundin mo yan kaysa doon sa isa."? I know you know what I mean. There is wisdom behind that girl, but "Kung saan ka masaya, suportahan taka." ...wink* wink*...

PEOPLE, PEACE OUT!!!

PS. My username "enerodesinueve" is Spanish for january 19, "ikalabing-siyam ng enero" in Filipino or Tagalog, and "yat yuht sap gau" in Cantonese. Anyone knows what's that in Turkish?

Hello! That's interesting how conversations about love capture our attention so much, I could not go by without adding something to this discussion. I am sort of having the same problem stock "between the rock and a hard place" trying to decide heart over mind or mind over heart. This is true test to our willpower, if you can stand the temptation of not giving in to what your heart desires you are a strong person. As for me, I preffer to be weak, you never know where your love adventure will take you. If you really love a person and dreamed about being with him/her for a long time, give your relationship a try. If it is not true love, it will fail;if it really is true love, this relationship will last and make you a happier person, either way you will never regret that you did not give it a chance.

Very true!
And sometimes you know that it would be better to listen to your mind, but then you discover it's like not there anymore! There's only heart.. I don't know if you understand me, but that is what happens to me sometimes and it is very confusing.
It also depends what kind of person you are. Real down-to-earth people don't have those problems, they think very logically most of the time. When it comes to me, well, euhm, let's say I'm not a real down-to-earth person

Love can be soo powerful that it can take all your sanity sometimes.. then you end up asking yourself.. my heart? or my mind? and still undecided which one to choose..
ahhhh!!! LOVE.. look what have you done???

..and people say.. "IT IS BETTER TO HAVE LOVE AND LOST THAN TO NEVER HAVE LOVE AT ALL".. true.. true..
..then sfter knowing the real meaning of love a learned from it.. I became wiser that I promised myself to be a FIGHTER no matter what. Just go for gold! You may glance back a bit but always look straight ahead.

I read an article once about the same subject: if normal people(in this context: people who are not in love) would show the symptoms that people in love experience, they would be diagnosed with psychological disorders. Not kidding here, it was a scientific report saying that with those symptoms, they could put you in a mental institution. Your mind also plays tricks on you and deceives you when you are in love, so I guess that means that at that moment it is totally untrustworthy! :-S
