I'm translating cemal's post with his permission, so that people can relate:
"I wish to express here a subject, by stressing it's importance.
There are many high quality novelists and poets like Yusuf Atılgan, Kaan Arslanoğlu, Attila İlhan, Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar,Edip Cansever, Turgut Uyar, Cahit Külebi in Turkey. Because the works of these novelists and poets, who are in a world literature affecting capability caliber, aren't translated to English, these important artists can't enter the agenda of world literature.
I wanted to draw attention to this subject.
Whose duty should be to translate those works?"

I wish all the books written by great Turkish novelists and poets could be translated into foreign languages.
What can be the aim of translating a book? To publish it, ofcourse. If it is so, we should enter into business area. First, publishers must believe that if they make a profit by publishing a Turkish author's book, then the book will be translated very quickly, otherwise not. Unfortunately, this is the truth of modern business wold.
