Im having a real hard time putting even simple sentances into text. Can someone please check these and see where I am going wrong. thank you.

Arkadaşım evden ben evime gittim
I went from my friends house to my house

Ceketim denedim ama ceketi çok kücük
I tried my jacket but the jacket was too small

Sokağa baktim köpegim bulmak
I looked at the street to find my dog

Gülmedim cünkü mutlumudum
I didnt smile because i wasnt happy

Pantalonlar olmak istiyorum ama param yeter değil.
I wanted to buy trousers but my money wasnt enough.

Thanks in advance

You had all the basic ideas.

The word order takes time. For students like us, it is safer to always put the "action" verb at the end of the sentence. Infinitives, verbal nouns, verbal adjectives come before the word they modify.

The 'tu' suffix is for the past tense - çok küçükTU = too small WAS, ie 'was too small'

adding "tü" to küçük gives it the meaning of "it was small".
The suffix is the 3rd person singular of the past tense of olmak and changes according to the vowel harmony.

"güzeldi" - she was beautiful
"hızlıydı" - it was speedy (when the adjective ends in a vowel you have to add a "y" before the suffix)
"kötüydü" - it was bad
"nefisti" - it was excellent

Have a look at the "olmak" chapter in the Learn Turkish section

hmm so adding suffix 'tu' to end of the verb means 'was'

if it was the present tense...it is too small...would you then not add the suffix?

You could say "küçüktür", but except in official language and making general statements etc.., it's not used that often in the 3pers. present tense.
