Quoting TeresaJana:

hmm so adding suffix 'tu' to end of the verb means 'was'

if it was the present tense...it is too small...would you then not add the suffix?

You could say "küçüktür", but except in official language and making general statements etc.., it's not used that often in the 3pers. present tense.

You don't need to add anything.

Ceket çok küçük.
Araban çok güzel.
Evimiz yeni.
Yemek sıcak.

If they were past, they would be:
Ceket çok küçüktü.
Araban çok güzeldi.
Evimiz yeniydi. (y is the buffer)
yemek sıcaktı.
