I will be staying in Istanbul in the Sultan Ahmet area next month and am planning on going to the Cevahir Mall. Could someone tell me how far the mall is from this area? And what would be the best transportation to get there? Thanks for your help

get on tramway from S.Ahmet to Kabataş. then from kabataş to Taksim by funicular. and get on taksim metro. it s at mecidiyekoy/şişli station. just follow the signs. it s very easy to find cevahir.

as far as i can remembered u can get up bus from sultan ahmet to taksim with number 14T

I'm not an Istanbullu at all, but I am an indepth Istanbul explorer  , and I can affirm this 
Get of the tram at Kabataş, take the pedestrian tunnel to the füniküler (get off in Taksim, you have no choice btw  ), after that trip don't leave the metro station but follow the signs to the metro, take the trip and get off at the right stop
