Oh thanks for that, I thought it would have been more than a litre, did you buy them off the plane, or from the duty free shop in the airport? X

Actually, on the plane you can buy whatever you like as long as you are happy to take the risk to take it into Turkey. I took 4 litres in May as well as wine with no problems at all. i also brought back 4 litres and was fine.
The shaving foam story is just what you take through the departure gate... no more than any liquid over 100mls and is a security issue, nothing to do with customs. As soon as you get through there you can buy anything at duty free, hence why you can buy litre bottles!
Hope this helps.

Are you from the UK Janie? Turkey is OUTSIDE the EU so actually if customs had checked your bags coming back to the UK they would have taken 3 out of 4 of your litres bottles away from you .

UK customs are getting pretty hot about non EU countries. Last time I came back from the Canary Islands customs "pounced" on the passengers arriving in the UK and were taking cigarettes and alcohol away from passengers who were unable to pay the duty!!!

this is ridiculous. on what basis? could it be the health and safety issues or anti-terrorist rules if you carry it in your hand bag? otherwise its quite weird.
