hi~ i would like to travel solo from greece to turkey in the coming summer. is there any classmate can suggest me some attraction sites for each island i want to go and the way to get to Turkey?? here is the basic information about my itinerary:

i'll be there in this mid June(probably 20th june 2006) and spend around 20 days on Greece. actually, i want to visit Athens, Mykonos, Naxos, Milos, Ios, Santorini, and Rhodes, if time is allowed i still want to visit Crete for couple of days. i want to enjoy sunbathing and see the historicals on these islands.
what can you guys suggest me to visit/see on each island?? how long should i spend on each of them?? are there any night ferries to connect these islands?? so i can save money for hotels...cos i have limited budget(~US$25oo), which doesn't include my tickets luckily.
after hopping the islands, i will go to Turkey from Rhodes. i'll spend 1 month there with my bf. which port does offer ferries going on shore from Rhodes in the southern Turkey??
and i'll go striaght the way to Cappadocia...is it convenient for me to get there from that port?? and how long will it take?? my bf will get me in Avanos, i guess?!

also, i've had my international student ID card, is there any discount for my travel(ferry fares, accomodation, food, etc) in both Greece and Turkey??

this is the general idea i've got right this moment, the details?? not yet done~ but i hope you guys can provide me much more information, so i can plan my full itinerary thoroughly. pls help me~ thank you very much!!

Well, you should visit this website http://www.eot.gr/. It's the official site of Greek National Tourism Organisation. I guess you can find valuable information there.

About the islands you have mentioned, lol, i can see you have done very good choices. But 20 days are not enough to visit all of them. For example, Rhodes and Crete are big islands and you need at least a week to discover each of them. Santorini, Naxos, Ios, etc are very close, as they are all in Cyclades Islands, but if you consider that you need at least 2 days to see each, then i guess your 20 days wont be enough.

You can go to Turkey through Kos Island as well. Actually i think that its closer to the Turkish Coastline than Rhodes is.

As for the budget, well, i hate to say that, but Greek islands are really expensive, especially for a tourist alone. You can get much better prices, if you have your trip organized by a travel agency. Foreign tourists always get better and cheaper holidays than us, greeks. lol

I hope i have helped you, even a little bit. Dont hesitate to ask, if you think that i can be more useful somehow.

thank you for the information~ sophie
actually, i'd like to pick up some attractive sites of each island, but not all. just like Rhodes, the most i'd like to see are the Rhodes (Old)Town and Lindos, but of course, if you guys can offer me more choices, i can re-plan my itinerary, may be 1 month in Greece, and the other 1 in Turkey. and it is a must to spare me times to sunbathe on beautiful beaches there!!

Well yes, Rhodes is a very beautiful island. Old Town and Lindos are amazing. But there are many more places you can visit there. Such as Prassonisi. It's the southest part of Rhodes, its actually a small deserted island, to which, at summer, u can go by walking. Waves on ur right and left, and you, walking in the middle! lol its great. Also Kalithea's roman baths.

And, by the way, u ve made me really jealous today! One month in greek islands and one in turkey???? Allah Allah! I cant even visit them for a week ya, even though i live here!!!

I ve been there twice, for a week each time, but still cant say that i ve seen all of Rhodes. But i bet 5-6 days are enough to visit the most importand places there. Also try to visit Santorini, as its already in ur target group. It needs 2-3 days max, to see it all, but there is no such place nowhere else in the world.
