Saz vs. bağlama

Im looking for lessons for either of these instruments, though I am not sure if i can afford it. But I was wodnering this.. if you can play saz, is it difficult to learn bağlama, or is it played the same but just the size different? So that all you would have to take in account is the bigger position of your fingers? Or is there more to it?
And what would the price of a simple öğrenci sazı be?

Depending on the quality of the wooden it is made of, I think a bağlama would vary €30 to 100. And the one of around €30, for example, would serve your purpose very well, I think.

Deli Kızın i both play baglama and Saz. We generally offer baglama if u want to play Modern Turkish folk music. in order that it has a shorter handhold u can make great transitions from top to down..
however if u want to classic turkish folk music's old songs i offer u saz..it haz a longer handhold and u have to wander in the handhold.and it has a satiate voice..
its very easy to learn both..do not worry..if u ask me which do u like to play more i think i can say baglama..

actually even if i give a link u wont able to saperate one from another the name changes just regarding to the number of tones..simply the longness of the handhold and the size of the bottom...
by the way the best baglama generally made by mulberry tree..if u want to buy a good one to use long times u will pay minimum 100 liras if sth ordinary is ok for u i offer u to look for chestnut or juniper trees..the must be about 50 liras..most important: a person who knows about baglama must listen it cos quality of workmanship can change everything..

Thanks a lot you all.
All I knew was that tehre was a difference in size, and tehrefore a difference in sound. The musicschool I found only offers saz lessons, but it will be a good start. I want to play folk songs anyway, but i think it will take a looong time before I can. I dont think I have that eastern feeling for rhythm in me, but a good teacher can make me at least learn the basics.
Im not sure if I can afford it all, but I wont have to decide till şeker bayramı.
The prices here for saz will be higher, because they are imported.
Ohh I really hope I can take classes once a week It would be such a nice and different approach to expand my knowledge on Turkish music!

Hi Dilara,
I can give you some names of the songs in which you can hear it.
Haluk Levent - Sevenler ağlarmış
Starts with a nice bağlama tune and the guitar takes over later. Nice song anyway.
Barış Manço - Ben bilirim (The Mançoloji album version)
You can hear it in this song as well
Moğollar - Keyfim yerinde
Moğollar use bağlama very nicely in this protest song
Kubat - Fidayda
Fidayda is a famous Ankara folk song. I really like Kubat's version. You can hear a couple of "bağlama"s during whole this song.
