Also in another forum...
I am desperate for any information on Bandirma, Turkey. I've Googled it, so I have the basics. Has anyone ever lived there/been there? Any ideas for hotels, how to get around? Please help!!!

According to the Lonely Planet travelguide, Bandirma is a 'betonville', a concrete city. Absolutely not interesting enough for them to give any information about hotels or anything to do/see (the question is: is there anything?). What I found is this:
* the otogar is 1,8 km outside the city centre
* there are 2 daily ferries to/from Istanbul Yenikapi - trip takes 2 hours
* to Izmir you can take the daily Marmara Ekspresi, departing at 16.02PM, 6,5 hours, 342 km and about 9 euro
* it's midway Bursa (5,55 euro, 2 hours, 115 km) and Çanakkale (6,65 euro, 2 3/4 hours, 195 km) by bus

Yeah, that's the kind of info I'm finding too...it's uninteresting. I'm going there soon to visit Balikesir University's Bandirma location. I really want to try to find a hotel before I get there. As boring as it's described, it is, unfortunately, my destination. Hopefully someone in here has been/lived there and can help! Thanks for your info!!!!!
Anybody know what I can expect for weather? I checked weather.com for averages already.

You can ask the same at LP's forum. I know some members there live in that area.

I got one reply on the LP forum and it was basically saying how boring this place is. So far I'm not having any luck gathering information.

Bandırma is a port town that we normally drive through when getting off the ferry going to Izmir from Istanbul! It really does just look like docks and not much else.
Nearby is the Erdek peninsula, which is a pretty holiday resort and you can find nice hotels in Erdek. Alternatively Balikesir is a nice small town, typical of the Aegean region.
