The Valentine´s Day is coming guys. Are you planning to buy something for your guy/girl? What will it be? Why?

In answer to your questions :-

(1) Nope.
(2) Nothing.
(3) Why? Because it means nothing to send a present or flowers to someone JUST BECAUSE you are told that you have to on this particular day. The price of flowers doubles on Valentine's Day - this day has nothing to do with love, and everything to do with money, oneupmanship and duty. I would rather do such things spontaneously!

I have to agree with you AEnigma...I hate getting gift out of a sense of duty and what I hate even more is uncreative gifts. I would rather not get anything at all.

Off the topic.. However, I heard on the radio today that brides are demanding their bridesmaids in the UK to sign a contract...Basically, outlining they will not gain weight, cut their hair before the wedding.

Is this typically done in the UK? It seemed a little disheartening to me.

Never heard of it!
To be honest its the kind of story we get about US weddings. Maybe its just the media desparate for stories

That's good to know. I thought it was odd to have a contract with your "so called best friends". I can't imagine asking my best friend to be my maid of honor..then oh bye the way I need you to sign this contract..you won't gain weight or change your hair style. But then again there are fanatic women who want their wedding pictures to be oh so perfect.

I hear more bridesmaids that cancel or decide not to be in the wedding more than anything. That would be the only reason I could think of having a contract. Even that is extreme. I guess you find out who your true friends are.

I did hear this story today also but by no means is it common practice.

It is the evil media trying to drive a wedge between US and UK women!! Can't we all just get along?

valentine gift ideas....
1. allow your loved one to cook for you and clean the house
2. nag and moan all day, just the way you like it
3. don't take shower all day
4. take the day off of work, stay in bad and watch movies all day
5. make your own craft as a gift without buying any ingredients
6. decide to study/work all day - for a change
7. send the $20-50 you'd spend on flowers & dinner to sponsor a child in africa or donate it to women's fund
8. allow your loved one to recycle your trash
9. decide not to care about any imperfections in your partner on that day
10. demand that your partner becomes a feminist

and lots more....

Make fun of me more and I won't show you my closet! What can I do if I'm against capitalism, civilization, polluting the planet, exploiting the poor... and all the other evil bed western ideas (ex: feminism and other -isms). I'm left with my trash and my imagination.... :-S
It does make for amazing valentine's day gifts!

Thanks Cat for not disclosing this to anyone. It would be quite embarrassing if people knew what was in my trash. I know your into recycling plastic and aluminum, but I'm not sure if natural rubber is recyclable. But you can give it a try. Bye the way Josh & Rob say hi. I wasn't sure which guy you were referring to.
They wanted you to know they were sorry for the mess..

No problem cnm. You realize it's not for free though... I hope. Next week I expect to see the above mentioned items in your trash... lol
Btw, if Rob could try not to dig in your trash on Sundays (I think he suspects there's another guy in your life... so be careful!), that would be very helpful..

Oh don't worry they have loads of respect for each other. I keep it in the family, Rob & Josh are brothers. I wouldn't have it any other way. They just don't like me comparing each other, that's all. BTW, paid? Yes, of course in monatary gifts...How do you think I can afford a Coach purse, now. I have an image to uphold..

Anyhow, Elisabeth you asked down to two? Well, I have finally given up hope on Sakir coming here. So what's not better, two for one. I never pass up a bargain.

P.S. Cat..I'll make sure no one gets in my trash on Sundays..I have a feeling it might be my neighbor. I've caught him a few tims, you know peeping out his windows. Also, I had a superbowl party on Sunday, so there maybe alot of trash this week..enjoy..
