Could someone, please, translate for me this beautiful poem? I can undrestand it, but not very well (the suffixe "digim" makes me a problem).
This is very important for me... I want to send poem to a friend in Turkey, but first I have to understand it completely.

SENI SEVDIĞIM KADAR

Güneş yine tepemde
sen artık bir serapsın
yanlızlığın çölünde.
ve biliyorum ki;
Hiç kimseyi özlemedim,
seni özlediğim kadar...

Boğaz hala masmavi.
sen artık bir martı yuvasız
göklerde.
ve biliyorum ki;
Hiç kimseyi beklemedim,
seni beklediğim kadar...

Yol belgeselleri çekmiyorum,
Yollar sensiz ve sevisiz
güzellikler şehrinde.
ve biliyorum ki;
Hiç kimseyi öpmedim,
seni öptüğüm kadar.

Kuşlar ağaçlara küstü
ay bulutların ardında,
deniz fenerin çakmiyor artık.
Ve sen de biliyorsun ki;
hiç kimseyi sevmedim,
seni sevdiğim kadar...

Thanks in advance!

I will give it a try. Maybe others will try also as I know there are better translators around.

AS MUCH AS I HAVE LOVED YOU

The Sun is burning again
and you are a fantasy
in a desert of loneliness.
And I know
I havent missed anyone
so much as I have missed you.

The sea are still shining blue.
And you are a seamew lost in
the sky
and I know;
I havent waited for anyone
as much as I have
waited for you...

No more do I make documentaries
of journeys
journeys now without you
are meaningless in this land of beauty.
and I know;
I havent kissed anyone
as much as I have kissed you.

Birds dont talk anymore to trees
The moon is hidind behind the clouds
your lighthouse doesnt light anymore
and you know my love
I havent loved anyone
as much as I have loved you

Thanks in advance!
You are welcome. I have replaced a few word to keep the same impression.

Çok teşekkür ederim, Erdinc
Your translation is exellent, very professional, and very poetic too. I like it very much, and I’m so grateful because, thanking you, now I can FEEL the soul of the poem.
Isn’t it really beautiful poem, so romantic and full of emotions?
Does anybody have some poems like this one? Will you write it for me?
Thanks again, Erdinc.
And keep on translating.
I’m sure that you are one of the best translators around!
P.S. I read in your profile that you are here to help others - well you helped me much!

Dear Slavica, your poem is really rich of emotions. Who's the author? Do you know Nazim Hikmet ?? I think he is "the real poet"

Dear Anto, you wouldn't believe me, but this beautiful poem is from Mynet E-Kart!

http://e-kart.mynet.com/view-upload/view-upload.asp?pa=preview&config=&next=custom&filename=ask_senisevdigimkadar%2Fask_senisevdigimkadar.jav&page=http%3A%2F%2Fe-kart.mynet.com%2Fview-upload%2F&field1=ask&field2=A%FEk&field3=4

I would also like to know who is the autor.
Yes, I know Nazim Hikmet and like his poetry very much. I read all his poems on TC (Admin's translations), and some others which I could find translated. Maybe you noticed, I posted one of his poems, very sad and moving poem "Letter to my wife" on this site. Unfortunately, I'm still not able to read Turkish poetry on their original language, and this is, actually, one of reasons why I'm trying to learn Turkish. I'm so optimistic, that I bought an antology of Turkish love poetry (about 600 poems!), on Turkish, WITHOUT TRANSLATION!
Nazim Hikmet had tragic life, full of suffering and I suppose this made him such a good and honest poet. Actually, after posting poem, I was planning to post short biografy of the poet, because I think that it could help readers to understand poem better. But I didn't have enough time, since I went to my vacation. I'm going to do this later.
What about you? Your Turkish? Do you love poetry? Who are your favourite poets? Maybe we could do something for this Forum, it seems pretty poor with posts and poetry doesn't deserve that!

If I remember well, this site became the proof that "love can move mountains".
Maybe we could take this sentence as MOTTO of TC.
Dear Bliss, I'm sure that you will meet very soon someone special, someone who will deserve to receive this wanderful poem from such precious person as you are.
I love you, sestrichka

Off Topic A HAPPY STORY OF BLISS x 2

Merhaba Classy Classmates

I wanted to share a story with you a Bliss full one you could say TO BE TRUE.
A week ago as my little brother was leaving the store a little precious creature jumped on his shoe as if he was desperately frightened so lost, Anthony looked down at his shoe to see what/who it was there clinging for dear life& a shoe to him seemed to be the right thing to do. Anthony saw a newborn Squirrel hanging there, yes I swear to you. Alone and scared as who knows what happened to his mommy she may have abandoned him or was taken from him who knows what happened now he was all alone seeking food and a hero Anthony and his shoe. He is so precious to us and dependent on us as newborn babies are we all know this to be true he is to young to find his own food. A week later peanut butter is his favorite food spoon by spoon. He is a blessing addition to the family, a small package of fur he is a 1/4 the size of Anthony's shoe who would have thought this ever to be true Bliss has blessed our lives Blissfully for a week yesterday at Noon and many more we hope to share for, the first week was crucial and we hoped and prayed prayed he would pull through and he did and is a strong and healthy it's true a happy ending and addition to our family a gift so priceless and true in the future Of course we want to do what's best for him, there is no doubt what we want to do raise and keep him forever but only time will tell what is best for him so for now we'll love him unconditionally and true.

When it came time to name him it was the easiest to do as this little baby so precious and loving so true that brought BLISS into our lives this couldn't be more true so we named him Bliss that's right after BLISS that's right Emma Anna you!
You all know of whom I am referring to, she is a classy classmate to both me and you but more than that she is a friend forever & true!! Now I know you'll all agree Bliss is a blessing to both me and you, I am feeling extra special and a blessing and I am blessed with 2!!!!!!! Love You Bliss and all of the classy members and classmates of the Ultimate web site in the Universe and this is true! So I give special thanks to turkishclass.com as if not for this website I may have never knew Bliss our friend & now Squirrel makes 2
Thanks turkishclass.com!

having seen that there are people who are interested in poetry. Ataol Behremoglu and Ahmet Arif are also great poets of Turkey. Especially find the poem " yasadiklarimdan ogrendigim bir sey var" by Behremoglu. That gives a description of life
Amhet Arif is very difficult to understand but if you once get the essence of his poems, you will realize how powerful his pen used to be. By the way, he passed away but Atoal Behremoglu is still alive.
For people who are interested in Turkish literature and contemparary authors I can recommend a faw names. Orhan Pamuk, Yasar Kemal, Aziz Nesin and Asim Bezerci are a few of great authors of present in Turkey.

There's something I have learned from what I've lived

There's something I have learned from what I've lived:
lf you're to live something, live it to its fullest
Your beloved should fall exhausted from your kisses
You should fall exhausted from smelling a flower

One can watch the sky for hours
Can for hours watch the sea, a bird, a child
To live on earth is to mingle with it
Growing roots that cannot be eradicated

When you hug a friend you should hug him vigorously
You should fight with all your muscles, body, passion
And once you stretch out on the hot sand
You should rest like a grain of sand, a leaf, a stone

One should listen to all the beautiful music on earth
So as to fill all his being with sounds and songs
One should dive into life as if
Diving from a rock into an emerald sea

Distant lands should lure you, people you do not know
You should burn with desire to read all the books, to know all the lives
You should not exchange for anything the pleasure of drinking a glass of water
All the joys should fill you with the yearning to live

And you should live grief also, with honor, with all your being
For grief also, like joy, matures a person
Your blood should mingle with the great circulation of life
In your veins must circulate the eternal fresh blood of life

There is something I have learned from what I've lived:
If you're to live, live big, as if you are mingling with the rivers, the sky, the whole universe
For what we call a life span is a gift to life
And life is a gift to mankind

Konat, thank you for 'What I have learned from Life' - it is beautiful. I also followed the link for this poets work on Love and this is also worth reading, but for me the 'Life' poem is, I think, a wonderful philosophy for a good life.

Again thank you.

Yes, Sibel, me too.I think you are right, maybe because it was familiar already and we read Admin's translation first but I think not only because of that. I think Admin used more poetic words(Lover instead of beloved and so on).
Thank you , Konat for the link.I tried already, it is great.Poetry lovers, try it, you are not gonna be disappointed.Good luck to all.

Hello my dear classmates,
I think we started tradition here to share poems(love and other).
On my birthday I received the lovely book of Serbian poems from my dear sestrichka (sister- 'sis') Slavica-Sibel, and want to share with you. This is beautiful poem.I hope you like it, and sombody could translate this into Turkish(It is my big wish!)

TWILIGHT
I love you with a melancholy ardor
And with doubt in the beauty and gloom of sorrow:
The present happiness is destroying
The infinite other happiness I crave.

For me you erase sunshine, though you did give
A hundred eyes to my heart, and opened
New roads to my soul, but you had them all merge
In you, like sounds that fade into a valley!

A hundred desires resembling white flocks
Headed south, only to land bewitched on your isle;
A hundred religions to trail one day behind you
Like a hundred white-clad children in a procession.

You raised a hundred hatreds to stand guard
Like a hundred black sails at the entrance to your port;
Thus, to my soul, you extended your hand
With the huge poisoned blossom of your being.

With all the passion of the first and last woman
You rule my soul, entire, forever - like
Fate, you too, reign omnipotent, immobile.
You stand between me and all that is around -

While from dried up rocks spring new waters,
And blue flowers blossom from an old stump,
And sparkle as on the day of their birth
All galaxies from a boundless sky!

My love, like the shadows in a thicket,
I filled with hatred, remorse and fear -
But my thirst for treason changed in a flash
Into new oaths and the delights of confession.

Thus falls bitterly, a certain faded twilight
Befogging my road; painfuly and forever,
While deep in me,love and envious malice
Sing together like two angeles in a choir.

While I was writing the poem, I've got an idea. Why we dont make a contest - WHO'S TRANSLATION IS GONNA BE BETTER ONE. Let's do it. I wish you all luck. The contest is started. Go ahead , my friends. God be with all.
Regards Bliss

Dear Slavica (or Sibel as I see...)
Thanks for your suggestion. I think that sharing poems in this forum is an excellent idea!
My Turkish is really poor I'm afraid.. I'm a beginner and it is only a coupkle of weeks I discovered TC !! it is great to see how many people are in it and partecipate to this forum !!!

I still don't know much about Turkish poetry but What I know is so passionate and rich of emotions that it is impossible not to be touched deeply indide...
Here is another poem by Nazim Hikmet; I'm sure you'll all love it:

MY WOMAN

My woman came with me as far as Brest,
she got off the train and stayed on the platform,
she grew smaller and smaller,
she became a kernel of wheat in the infinite blue,
then all I could see were the tracks.

Then she called out from Poland, but I couldn't answer,
I couldn't ask, "Where are you, my rose, where are you?"
"Come," she said, but I couldn't reach her,
the train was going like it would never stop,
I was choking with grief.

Then patches of snow were rotting on sandy earth,
and suddenly I knew my woman was watching :
"Did you forget me," she asked, "did you forget me?"
Spring marched with muddy bare feet on the sky.

Then stars lighted on the telegraph wires,
darkness dashed the train like rain,
my woman stood under the telegraph poles,
her heart pounding as if she were in my arms,
the poles kept disappearing, she didn't move,
the train was going like it would never stop,
I was choking with grief.

Then suddenly I knew I'd been on that train for years
- I'm still amazed at how or why I knew it -
and always singing the same great song of hope,
I'm forever leaving the cities and women I love,
and carrying my losses like wounds opening inside me,
I'm getting closer, closer to somewhere.

Mediterranean Sea, March 1960

Hello Anto,
Thank you for the beautiful poem.I read that before.
We all are beginners and hope speak this beautiful and melodic language some day, and read original poems not the translations.Every poetic work is good in its own language(for me).
By the way, the suggestion was made by me but it doesn't matter me or Slavica(she is my dear sis).
Thank you for responding.
We are waiting for others...

Thanks, Anto, for "activating" this old Forum post (I think it was my first)and thanks everyone for contribution in giving poetry the place which it deserves.

AŞK...

Başladığı Yerde Biter Aşk.
Emeksiz Sarhoşlukta,
Nağmeler Okur, Her Boşlukta

Gittiği Yerde Kalır Aşk.
İlişir Gurbet Yanı Başına
Dağlara Hasret Düşer,
Eyvah Düşer Garip Başa.
Resmidir Ölümün GURBET...
İmkansız Fikirler Büyür
Mavi Gökyüzü Büyür Elbet!

Adına Aşkın, Türküler Yakar Ayrılık.
Doğar Güneş, Hava Zifiri Karanlık,
Ilık Bir Yaz Gider Ötelere
Mavidir Gökyüzü, Mavidir Yine..

Kanadığı Yerde Durur Aşk.
Akar Ayrılığın Gittiği Yere
Lakin Söz Kalır, Söz Kalır Elbette.
Ilık Bir Yaz Yitirir Işığını,
Rüya Hüzne Götürür Aşığını

Derken Bir Kıvılcım, Alev Olur,
Okunur Ağıdı Sevdalının.
Siyah Bir Matem de, Sevda Okunur
Tarumar Hayatlarda Yitirilmiş
Leyla'nın Hikayesi,
Aslı'nın Hikayesi Okunur.
Resme Aşk Dokunur, Ölüme Azrail Sokulur

Bakışlarında Gizli Görüyorum
Eski Zamanları Düşlüyorsun
Ne Vakit Güneş Doğsa,
İsimsiz Bir Sevdayı Özlüyorsun

Hikayesi Ömrümün; 'AŞK'.
Aslında Gönlümün...
Tek Başıma Yetemiyorum Kendime
Islanıp Her Yağmurda Yürüyorum
Rengi Yalnızlıktır Aşkın
Leyla'dır Aşk, Şirin'dir Aşk
Aslı'dır Aşk, Asılsızdır Aşk
Sinemde Bir Yaradır, Yardandır Aşk
Islandım Yine, Oysa Yağmurda Yağmıyor
Neyleyim Yüzüme Güneş Doğmuyor...

Dermanım Sendedir Yar
Ãœstümden Nice Acılar Geçerken
Gün Batarken
Ãœstünden Bir Bahar Biterken Aşkın
Neyleyim Gülüyorum, Gül Solarken

Orda Bir Yerde Biliyorum
Lakin Uzanamıyorum Ellerimle
Uçurum Çıkıyor Hep Gözlerine Bakarken
Resmine Ağlarken Keder Bıkıyor

Bazen Umud Oluyor İçimdeki,
Ağıt Oluyor Bazen Dilimdeki
Yalnızlığa Salma Beni Gülüm, De ki;
Rüzgarlara Kapıldım Ben
Aşıyorum Nice Sevdalar,
Mevsimler Geçiyorum Umarsızca...

Gün Sen Giderken Bitti
Elimdeki Resmin Yitti Gitti
Lodos Oldu Rüzgarın Adı
İçime Getirdi Bütün Hüzünleri
Resmine Asırlar Ağladı

Dilimde Yağmurla Başlayan Bir Türkü
'Oy Haraptır Hallarım, Dermanı Hüzün,
Bilmem Nerdedir Ellerin, Nerdedir Yüzün '
Telaşa Kapılır Aniden Bir Yıldız
Leyla'ya Aşık Mecnun Gibi
Atar Kendini Sevdanın Gittiği Yere
Rüzgar Hafifler, Yağmur Çiseler...

Bilirim Aşıksın Geceye
Eğlen Bende Geleyim
Nicedir Hasretim Tenine
İyisimi Ben Öleyim.

Her Zaman Böyle Kal Sevdiğim
Ağlarsın Hep, Gülmezsin Bilirim
Takılır Boğazına Sevda Sözlerin
Islanır Yanakların Ağlar Gözlerin
Rüzgara Verirsin Sevdayı
Leylaklar Solar Bahçende
Aşk Dağılır Dört Bir Yana
Sitem Dolar Yüreğin.
Işıtsın Gönlümü Sevgin
Ne Hasretin Bitsin Nede Gurbetin...

Can Yanar, Vakitler Sıkışır Benliğim de
Aşk Beni Yitirir, Sana Geldiğim de
Ne Garip, Susuyorum, Sükutu Böldüğüm de

Karlı Dağlar, Dikenli Yollar
Ahlar, Vahlar, Sorular...
Filizlenir Her DüşÃ¼ncede Seni Sevmeler
Ellerimde Güller Ve Gülün Özünde Dikenler
Saklı Bahçelerde Figanda Bülbüller
Telaşa Kapılmış Zaman, Bu Zamanda!
Eritiyor Fikrimi, Kederin Boş Sokaklarında

Denizde Mavi, Gözlerinde Yeşil Gizli
Uğruna Hebadır Sevdiğim Gönlümün Şiiri
Rüzgara Bıraktım Ben Bu Yaman Şehiri
Matemini Sana Bıraktım
Ağla, Yanma, Sorma Nedenleri
Ziyandır Geceler, Yüreğimin Sevgileri...

Uçuşur Saçlarında Rüzgar Hoyratça
Çarşambayı Sel Alır Her Dinlediğim Türküde
Affet Ne Olur, Beni Affet, Kapıldım Saçlarına
Rüzgarla Savruluyorum Bende, Özüne...

Düşteyim Gülüm, Düşteyim
Ãœstüme Geldikçe Bulutlar, Kaybolur Gülüşlerim
Nerde Bir Deniz Görsem,
Yalnızlığın Türküsü Çalar
Aşkını Bilsem, Kaybolmazdı Zamanlar...

Bırakıp Git, Şiirde Gitsin Seninle
İsminde, Sevginde
Resimde Bitsin Bu Son GülüşÃ¼nle...

Hüzün Ve Yüzün, Birlikte Anılıyor Artık
Acı Bir DüşÃ¼ncede Birikiyor
Nedenlerimi Sorguluyorum, Özüm; Göz Altında...

Korkuyorum Sevdiğim,
Oyun Geliyor Yaşamak
Neşe Yok, Ses Yok, His Yok
Aylardır Bir Ben Yok, Birde Sen, Birde SEN Yok
Nasıl Gülerim Sevdiğim, Hüzün Sevinçten Çok...

Gam Ve Yaşam, Artık Birlikte
Öyküler Senin Dönmeni Beklemekte
Çok Zamandır Denizler Çağlamıyor
Eridi Sevdiğim, Eridi Gönlüm
Resim Bile Eskisi Gibi Ağlamıyor...

Aynı Şehirde Yaşıyoruz Seninle, Aynı Zamanda
Yalnızlığımı Bilmiyorsun, Gerekte Yok Sormana

Dilimde Seni Çağıran Kafiyeler Gizlidir
O Kelimeler Kederimle Sözlüdür
Leyla'dır Bir Zaman, Mecnun Peşinde
Ama Asıl Aşık Mecnun'dur
Nedensiz Çöller İçinde...
Islanıyorsan Yağmura Sığın
Reddet Özünü, Hayaller Yığın...

Yalnızlık Sevdiğim;
Işık Girmez Fikirlerde Umutlar Boşa
Lakin Aşkta Hep Yasa
Lakin Aşkta Hep Tasa Sevdiğim
Avunup Bir Güle, Bahçeyi Terkettim
Rüzgar Değdi Özüme, Sevdiğimi Farkettim...

Geçer Gülüm, Buda Geçer, Bunlar Naçar;
Estiğim Vakitlerde Kayboldum, Sevgiler Uçar
Çok Aradım İzini, Bulamadım, Buda Geçer.
Eskiymiş Tebessümler
Resimler Yine, Yine Hüznü Seçer...

Dün, Bugün, Hergün İçimdesin
Onulmaz Dertlerin Biçimindesin
Sözlerin En Gücündesin Sevdiğim
Talan Olur Bütün Mevsimlerim
Lodos Olur Bir Zaman Beni Savuran
Aşk Olur Sevdiğim
Riyasız, Yalansız, Hep Ama Hep Beni Kavuran

Bağışla Sevdiğim, Unutamıyorum
En Derinlerde Biriktiriyorum Hasretimi
Ne Gül Diyor, Ne Öl
İsmine Yeni Anlamlar Yükledim, 'Kal'...

Hiç Böyle Olurmuydu Dersin
Ağlarmıydı Sevdiğim, Mevsim
Telaşı Bana Bırak, Ve Git Artık
Islanıyorum, Git, Ne Olur Git
Rüzgar, Rüzgar, Hep Rüzgar Sevdalar
Lakin Hırçın, Hep Hazan Dünyalar
Ahh Yanarmıydı Böyle Akşamlar...
Sana Son Sözdür Bu
Işığın Köreltti Ruhumu
Nisanındayım Gözlerinin, İçimde Nisan Bulutu...

Cebimde Hayallerle Geldim Sana
Aşkı Bir Yana Bırakıp
Nisanı Getirdim Yağmura...

Böyle Yanan Bir Tende, Maviye Özlem Olur
Ellerimde Şiir Kalır, Yüreğimde Hançer,
DüşÃ¼p Yığılırım Sözlere, Sözler Tebessümü Biçer.
Eski Zamanları Düşlüyorum Hala
Ne Çokta Benimdin,
Dağılıp Gökyüzüne Savruldum Şimdi
Evvel Zamanlar Paklamaz Beni
Ne Çoklar Avutmaz Seni...

Apaçık Görmüştüm Yüreğini
Yapayalnız, Sevgisiz,
Renginde Yeşil Vardı Mevsimin
Islanıyordum,
Lakin Gökte Bulut Yoktu,
Ağlıyordum İşte, Hıçkıra Hıçkıra
Can Yandı, Kalem Yazdı, Sitemi Buluta Sözdü
Aklımda Zülfün,
Kelimeler Şiirde Közdü...

Tüten Bir Şeyler Var Hala
Üstümde Bulutlar,
Telaşa Kapılmaksızın
Mateme Karışmaksızın
Eskimeden, Yitmeden
Ziyansız, Zararsız DüşÃ¼nüyorum Seni

Bırakıp Gittiğin Günden Beri
Aşkımı Bir Dağın Ardına Gizleyip
Canımı Sardım Sevdanın Özüne
Aşkımı Sitemin Sözüne...

Yokluğun Ãœmitsiz Bir Hal Aldı
Ayrılık, Gözlerimde Yalandı
Nasıllar, Nasıllar Bana Kalandı, Uçurum Ardından
Mahşerde Sevdiğim, Ayrılmam Bilesin Yanından.
Ansızın Gönlümde Beliren Hayalinle Sevişiyorum
Zerre Değmeden Tenine, Özüne Karışıyorum

Okuyorum Bir Bir Hayatın Sırlarını
Cisminde Belirdikçe Acı
Anlıyorum,
Karadır Aşkların Yalnızlığı...

Son Bir Haykırış, Artarak, Çoşkulu
Eğrilip Gülün Özüne Giriyorum
Leyla Yok, Şirin Yok, Aslı Asılsız Kayboluyor
Anlıyorum Sevdiğim
Merhabalar Başka Bahara Kalmadan, Son Buluyor...

Oturmuşum Kıyısına Dünyanın,
Leylak, Sümbül Soluyor
Sol Elimde Cigara,
Uyku Gözlerime Doluyor
Nefessiz Uzanıyorum Yanına...

Kentin Sokaklarında Sahte Gülüşler
Upuzun Serilmiş Ölüme, Duygusuz Düşler
Cezası Kesilmiş,
Aşkı Bir Gör, Bak Nasılmış
Kemirir Beynimi Sensizlik, Gecelere Yazılmış...

Katran Karası Sensizlik, Sevda Karası
Uyur Gözlerimde Yüreğin Ve Aşkın Yarası
Ciğerlerim Seni Çeker, Her Nefeste Cigaramdan
Alıp Bir Köşeye Koyarım Umutları
Kim Medet Ummuş Bilemem, Bu Zamandan...

Dünyanın Kıyısında Güller Açıyor
O Bahçede Nice Sevinç Uçuyor
Söylerim, Söylendi Sözlerim Benim
Tufanlar Geldi, Gönlüm Seçiyor...
Lal Olsun Dilim Söylemez Olaydım
Ahh Sevdiğim,
Rüzgarla Uçan Gönlümdür, Ben Sende Kalaydım...

Bir Zaman, Bir Zaman Üstüne
Eski-Yeni, Umut-Acı Ãœstüne
Ne Hoş Dillerin, Güllerin Ãœstüne
İnadına Gözlerin Ãœstüne, Sevdim Seni, Yaram Değdi Tütüne

Hani Bir Vakit Önce Gülerdim
Acı Bana, Sevinç Sana Dilerdim
Talansız Bir Ömrü Hep Sana İsterdim
Işık Dolu Bir Zamanda Şimdi, Böyle Aşık
Resmini Bir Uçurumdan Bıraktım
Leyla, Şirin, Aslı Suretinde Sen
Aldanıyorsun O Çöllerin Serabına
Sanıyorsun Şiir Hala Seni Anlatır
Islanıyorsun, Karışıyorsun Yağmura
Neşesiz Vakitlerdeyim, Beni O Yağmur Kanatır...

Ne Adın Silindi Gökyüzünden, Nede Yıldızlar
Eskidi Yalnızlık, Gönlümde Hatıralar

Gör Bak; Kaç Şehir Yıkılacak Sen Giderken
Ellerimle Hasretimi Bilerken,
Leyla'yı Dilerken, İçimde
Sürüp Gider Böyle, Bir Asır
Evimde, Gönlümde Hep Hüzün, Öyle Bir Köşede
Matemini Tutuyor Yüzün, Gitmenin Acısıyla
Dağlar Yalnızlaşıyor Gitgide,
İsmin Yazılıyor, Yalnızlığa Sancıyla...

Ne Düşler Biter Bende, Nede Sensizlik
Eskidi İklimler, Gönlümde Yalnızlık

Gör Bak; Rüzgarlar Esecek Bu Kente
İsteksiz, Yarım Kalan Sevinçlerde
Desem ki; Sen Anlamını Kaybettin
Ezilen Umutların Ardından;
Rüzgarlara Sorarsın, Benim Hasretimi
Desem ki; Sen Bana Bakarken, Kendini Seyrettin
İsteyip Geçerken Aşkın Yanından;
Matemlere Yorarsın, Fırtınalı Sesimi...

Gör Bak Sevdiğim,
Üstümden Kara Bulutlar Geçiyor
Nedenlerini Yitiriyorum Ömrümün
Danışıp Ayrılığa, Acılar Açıyor
Eskiyorum Giderek Yanında Zulmün
Nedensiz Günlerde, Nasıllar Soruyor...

Gel Sevdiğim, Gel Otur Gönlüme ŞÃ¶yle
ÃœşÃ¼mesin Yüreğin, Sarıl Tenime
Ne Garip, Solmuşsun Benzemişsin Güle
Erir Sevdiğim, Benimde Gönlüm Böyle...

Ayrıldık; Zamanın Herhangi Bir Yerinde
Reddedip Özümüzü.
Talan Vurur Şimdi Sevgimize,
Tarumar Edip Sözümüzü.
Islanır Hatıralar, Yağıp İçimize...

Dilerim, Ãœzülmezsin, Karartıp Geceyi
Eskimessin Dilerim Sevdiğim
Rüyalarda, Hicranlar da
DüşÃ¼nmezsin, Vakitlerin Geçmezliğini
İlkBaharda, SonBaharda
Martılara Bakıp, Aşkın KaraSularında

Gör Bak Sevdiğim;
Alışmadan Bitecek Bu Günler
Rüyalar, Hüzünler Bitecek
İçinde Çiçekler Gülecek
Perişan Yalnızlığımla...

Kısık Sesimle Bir Türkü Söylesem Sana
Ağlasan.
'Lutfeyle Sevdiğim, Lutfeyle Baharı '
Işıtsın Gün Tenini
Rüzgar Savursun Serabı...

Yine Aklımda Kalan Gözlerindir
Elvedanın Öncesinde...
Rast Makamında Tebessümler Birikir
İsminin Son Hecesiyle!
Merhabanın, O Eşsiz Sevinciyle...

Yeni Bir İklim Getirsem Sana;
Uzanıp Ağlasak Ten Boyu Yıldızlara
Rüzgar Gibi Birşey Esse; Gönlümüze
Düşlerin Tam Ortasında Belirse, Hayalin
Uyku Bitse,
Misafir Gelse, İçime Gözlerin...

Adem ERDOĞAN..

Well done, Zeynep, but translation would be welcome.
You know, some of us, unfortunately, still are not able to read Turkish poetry on their original language...

Awesome Daydreamer - awesome!

Anyway, here's my favourite poem (at the moment) WITH a translation, handily provided by Admin on this site's poetry pages.

Uzakta Değilim

Öyle senden uzakta değilim
Görmesini bilsin gözlerin,bakışındayım
Belki sana senden yakın
Çarpan kalbinin her atışınıdayım...

I am not Far

I am not far from you
Your eyes shall know to look, I am in your looks
Perhaps closer to you than yourself
I am at every beat of your heart...

This is a nice one I think for everyone with a loved one in another country!

I want nothing but the best for you,
and that's why I want you
to always have me in your life...

Wanting the best for you
means wanting you to always have
a friend you can count on,
a love that you can celebrate,
arms that you can come home to,
and a life that feels fulfilled.

Wanting the best for you
makes me wish that
you'll always want me in your life,
because nobody will love you
like I will...

Nobody will try as hard
to give you what you need
and what you wish for;
and nobody could feel
as happy as I am
or as privileged
or as hopeful.

I want the best for you...
and that includes me.
Not because I'm perfect...
but just because
I'm perfectly in love with you.

If somebody could translate this poem to Turkish I will appreciate that very much.
Thanks in advance.
Regards Bliss

DO NOT BELIEVE...

Do not believe in my verses and rhymes
When they tell you, darling, how deeply I love you,
That at every moment I pray God for you
And that I carve your name in the trunks of trees -

Do not believe! But late at night, when the moon shines,
And pours silver over blue rocky mountains;
There, where in the shrubs a new spring flutters,
And where our blue lilacs are sweetly asleep,

Come, I'll wait for you! And in these hours,
When against my chest you press yourself tightly,
If you feel then, love, that my body trembles,
And burns with passion in the grasp of its fire;

Then believe me , love, that's all you need to know!
For real love knows not how to use words;
It only burns like a blaze, not cautious,
Nor does it care, love, for verse and rhyme.

ALEKSA SANTIC(serbian poetry)

Enjoy...

“Yes!”
My joy is overflowing,
you got down on your knee
and have professed forever
your special love for me.
There was no hesitation,
the moment I said “yes,”
and gave life to the feelings
I’m longing to express.
I give myself completely,
my heart belongs to you;
I’m counting every moment
until we say “I do.”
You are the perfect person
to compliment my life;
there’ll be no brighter day than
when I become your wife.

At Your Feet

Where are you tonight my love?
What is it that you do?
It's true my heart is torn apart
When I'm not with you
What enchanted thoughts swim through your head?
Are any of them of me?
When, my dear, you go to bed
Is it my face you see?

Who is honoured with your presence now?
And do they even care?
The thought of you not being admired
Fills me with despair
Do they appreciate your loveliness?
Do they marvel at your splendor?
Do they love to hear your velvet voice?
Do they adore your smile so tender?

If they do not
Then they all are fools
and had you been with me
Every day, my love, you'd be a king
because that's what you are to me

I'm at your feet
and I come with gifts
my body, heart, and soul
They're yours to do with as you please
to command and to control

I give myself with all my heart
I'm yours for all of time
Your slave, your queen, your anything
only say that you are mine

Gerçek değer gelmesi boşluk dolduran değil;
Gitmesi boşluk yaratandır.

Real Value

Real value is not what fills a gap when it comes;
It is what creates a gap when it goes.

Yes, you are right. My translation on first page of this topic was also one of my earliest messages in this forum.

At the time I was not a moderator. I was just looking around here and there. Maybe I should have remained like that, as a wanderer. Things would have been a little more peacefull for me and for a few others of course.

Sen sevgili, sen can, sen yarsın

Şehrazat

Sen gündüzün gecenin dışında
You, beside the day and night
Sen kalbin atışında kanın akışında
You, in the beat of heart, in the flow of blood
Sen Şehrazat bir lamba bir hükümdar bakışında
You, Şehrazat, in a look of a lamp , of a monarch
Bir ölüm kuşunun feryadını duyarsın
hear the cry of a death bird

Sen bir rüya geceleyin gündüzün
You are a dream night and day
Sen bir yağmur ince, hazin
You are a rain, thin and sad
Sen şarkılarca büyük uzun
You are big and long with songs
Sen yolunu kaybeden yolcuların üstüne
You are, over the passenger lost his way,
Bir ömür boyu yağan bir ömür boyu karsın
a life lenght snow snows for a life time

Sen merhamet sen şefkat sen tiril kadın
you compassion, you tenderness, you delicate woman
Sen bir mahşer içinde en aziz yalnızlığı yaşadın
You lived the holy loneliness in the great crowd people
Sen başını çeviren cellat başının günü
You, the day of the head executioner turns his head
Sen öyle ki sen diye diye seni anlayamayız...
You, as we cant understand you with saying you
Şehrazat ah Şehrazat...
Şehrazat ah Şehrazat...
Sen sevgili, sen can, sen yarsın
You darling, you soul, you beloved

==="You can fall from a bridge, you can fall from above but the best way of falling is falling in LOVE!" ===

Thank you in advance!

My suggestion would be as follows:

"Yükseklerden düşebilirsin, bir köprüden de öyle; ancak düşmelerin en iyisi/güzeli AŞKIN kucağına düşmedir."

Your questions are hard to answer. Let's say it is the sense of being a native speaker. Still I will try to explain some point as best as I can.

You know, "to fall in love" can be translated only "aşık olmak", which has no connection with "düşmek"(to fall). I could have translated it literally as "aşka/aşkın içine düşmek"; though it would still have understood, it wouldn't be a proper equivalent. On the other hand, I wanted to provide/keep a connection between "düşmek" and "aşk(aşık olmak)" according to the context, and thought it would be acceptable if I translated it as "aşkın kucağına düşmek" since "(bir şeyin) kucağına düşmek" is a common phrase.

Oh, I forgot to add tihs: Just double click on the word "way", and you will see why I didn't anwers your related question.
