Quoting alameda: One essential issue of being deleted is it's impossible to follow the thread of a particular members posts. IOW, if you see an intersting post by xxx and you want to read more of what they have posted, if they have been deleted, you can't. |
Actually all the posts are there, they are not deleted. You just lose the links to them. So why delete?
Some other sites do not delete any member but suspend only (to maintain a consistent database state -- and you know what they can be enabled later if the admin accepts). So they cannot login and post anything but their profiles are kept.
Can admin do such a thing?

Yes, I know they are there, but in the current system all links are lost, thus loosing the ability to follow a members posts. That is one thing about this site that is unique and interesting...and one that it appears all of us indulge in...haunted by our old posts (unless we clean them up)
