Quoting Deli_kizin: Just wondering. |
My original post in this thread was not in regards to the good or bad taste of the cartoon posted, but just rather a clarification on the definition of what a cartoon is and is not.
I believe the intent of just about all cartoons is to provoke, any artist realizes that.

Yes I know. Just the Danish cartoons came to my mind as I remember the exagerated reactions from the Muslimworld. Thats all
Quoting alameda: any artist realizes that. |

cartoons are not only just for fun, but also to criticize the events in the world especially political matters. however caricaturists must be respectful to the rights of a person or a community, otherwise it causes provocations and negative reactions as the caricatures in Denmark.

I agree with you till a certain degree... Because when criticizing political matters, you are always hurting one side. As there are always two opposites. So in that way it becomes really hard not to cause a negative reaction. And, if they are to criticize, they cant be too positive either

As I said earlier, the purpose of satire is to provoke, however an artist needs to know how to not cross the line from being just a frontal attack on others belief system.
If you want to provoke, you shoud be aware of just what you are provoking, or be ready for the consquenses. Doing it any other way is irresponsible, don't you think?

I don't care if u agree with me or not. Diogenes says:
"Gölge Etme Başka İhsan İstemem."

Quoting adonis: "Gölge Etme Başka İhsan İstemem." |
So you are saying you don't allow me to respond to you or not? If you really didn't care, you wouldn't even have bothered to reply me, dear. And what's with the quoting? Or.. are you saying.. you think I give you so much worth that I would deliberately bother you?
Neyse, as Sezen Aksu says:
"Haydi artık çek git yoluna".

this post proves your inadequacy of Turkish. thanx..

And this shows your inadequacy of English, because that is not how one would say it in English. I think we would say 'to bother someone'. Not really to stand in ones sunlight. Actually, maybe in edebiyat or something we would say that. But in generally that sentence means All I ask from you is, dont bother me. Are you that shiny then?
