Creator of the Web - Sir Tim Berners-Lee

I saw this today whilst reading the news online.
It made me wonder how my life had been changed by the advent of the www eg. reading the news online!!!
It's also impacted on my work life, as a teacher. Some aspects of my job have been made easier eg. much more interest grabbing lesson resources. On the other hand, trying to keep up with 4 year olds losing their sites on the 3 PCs I have in my classroom, can be very time consuming. I wonder what Joyce Grenfell would have made of it all ?
I do seem to have become a slave to it lately! eg TC Class!!
The www seems to have produced many modern day 'curtain twitchers' too .
So . . . perhaps members would like to share how the www has affected their lives . . .

Yes, I saw him on the news this morning and what a quiet unassuming fellow he is! Now he is worried about the monster he has created, rather like a technological Frankestien.
I cannot imagine life with out the web now. Not only do I use it at home for personal things, i.e socially, keeping in touch with friends I would otherwise not have, booking holidays, searching for somewhere off the beaten track a little more unusual, reading the news from around the world, learning and education and the occasional purchase.
At work I use it for research for my job, finding reports and government policy etc - social sites and msn are blocked so that is out!!!!!

There isn't an aspect of my life that has not been impacted by the WWW. I use it at work, home, to learn....BUT I still have a great love of libraries....maybe I am a bit old fashioned/sentimental but there is something about being amoung volumes of books that is comforting.

It's unbelievable how fast things like www become part of our every day lives. Ever since I got online for the first time, I've been booking tickets, checking out events, researching many different topics, using route planners, shopping and learning. Also, it let me get to know many people of different cultures, backgrounds and views. I love the fact that, travelling, I meet people I met online in person. It makes me feel less like a tourist
