Do you know anything about how many people got killed by the racists thugs, supported by the deep state, during 1970s?

how many intellects, how many professors? how many youngsters?

Have you ever read or listened stories about tortured young people?

When I said, deep state prepared the grounds for the army interventions, what did you understand really?

I understand perfectly what transpired in the '70's.

I also understand that every nation where communism has been "ushered in" as a government, they have had their own "purges". The loss of life is regretable. As I said, blood spillage was necessary to keep them out. I do not support any assassinations that may have occurred recently and hope that progress in turkey can be made peacefully.
That said, Turkey needs the PKK defeated, the communists with no voice and the government secular.

Ahhh..
So you are saying that all we needed was a deep state to protect us from the evils..yes?
Why do we have a parliment then? why do we go to elections?
How is all this fit into democracy?
You are speaking from the mouth of Henry Kissinger up there.
What you are saying and supporting is pure fashism!!

If you want to use the words fascism...OK.
Turkey's democracy is not as strong as it needs to be now. And it was even weaker then. So yes. The army needed to protect the republic from its enemies as outlined in the Constitution.

The idea which is 'army comes and sorts the things out', is the thing what makes Turkey's democracy weak.

If the deeps states were so necessary, why on earth you disbanded them on the west then?
Why are you keen on democracy and not the army in the west?
Why are you not letting the army run the western countries?

Apart from those facts, believeing that army interventions were necessary for a country is a pure insult to that country. (I may even start a new thread for this)

The blood spilt was the blood from my country's people.
It might be easy for you to say it was necessary but not for me.

And the constitution, what constitution is that exactly?
The one they come and change constantly and put clauses that will give them the rights to intervene ?
And where do you put all these into democracy?

Turkish democracy is no different than any other democracy as it starts. You think the US didnt have its share of people that wanted to revert back to English rule? Not just the US. Stable democracy takes time and yes, they all have needed the military to step in and perform necessary actions for the long-term vision of the country. You have already indited the CIA, so yes, America has its own version of deep state. Welcome!!!

You support dirty deep states (by saying that they are/were necessary for "democracy");
I call the times of military rules, 'the darkest years' in Turkey.
By saying that they were necessary to protect the democracy:
you support military regimes (or interventions in Turkey);
you support jailing of hundreds of thousands of innocent people (in Turkey);
you support turturing people (in Turkey)
you support killing of many intellects and innocent people (again, in Turkey and say "blood spillage was necessary")

And you call your self 'a friend of Turkey' (and me anti-turkish I guess)

you are NOT even a democrat Keith.

======
anyway.

By all means keith,having the army interfere no matter what the reason is,is a very huge step backward not forward!
They are big boys,and girls and can choose what they want,they dont need supervision,as no one should actually !
İf you say its happening also in some how at US or UK or what ever,its happening shyly,because also people there are big boys and girls,and they are strong enough and NEVER accept supervision,and it would be a scandal if anyone knows about it!
So why not Türkiye be same also ?!
Actually what bring nations backwards is that ''People dont know what is right for them ! ''
İf people have the choice,what they dont like ,they can freely change it at the next election.
But im afraid with army in the picture people will always be ''They will NEVER know what is best for them ''
