I just read about the explosions. The world is going crazy. Right after the joy of being elected as host for the 2012 Olympic games, London is hit by terrorists. Sorry for everyone somehow harmed in this terrible event. Are our friends on the site from London ok?

It's absolutely awful...My sister's fiance was late for work today, if he had have been on time, he would have been involved in the tragedy. There really are some sick people in the world. But it was just a matter of time before the UK was hit. It's just awful, my heart goes out to anyone, and to the families of anyone who was involved.

Thank you Freshman and Admin for your kind comments. Yes it is a terrible day for London today. The nearest bomb was less that 1 mile from my home. It was made somehow worse for everyone because all the mobile phone networks were so swamped that you couldn't get any texts or calls through to anyone.
It seems that 33 people have been confirmed dead, but there was a bomb on a bus and they have not said how many people died on the bus. It seems that the people on the bus we so badly damaged in the explosion, some were decapitated by the bus roof when it blew off, that they cannot tell how many people there were because of the terrible injuries. There are also many people seriously injured in the hospitals.
My own daughter works on the London Underground as a Customer Service Assistant, but fortunately, she had a day off today. She does not know yet how many of her colleagues were killed or injured.
The Police have said that this was definitely the work of Al Quaeda and Muslim groups all over England have been condemning this atrocity. It is very bad for good relations with our Muslim neighbours when this happens, there is a very big Muslim community all over England, and particularly where I live in East London, after 9/11 there was a lot of bad feeling towards Muslims in England (by ignorant people i hasten to add!).
Many people are unable to get home from the City, my own son and the wife of my other son are walking several miles to get home tonight.
I also add my good wishes to anyone who has loved ones in London today.

How can anybody do such a thing? It's just so wrong. People have died and been hurt, and for what?! What has it achieved? Nothing. Once again, my heart is with everybody who has lost someone in this tragedy, and the souls of those innocent people who died.

I don't think we can call them humans. They are fanatics who don't know even what they want.
I am sorry for innocent people who was hurt , and pray for the souls who died.My best wises to all who lost someone in this tragedy.

The occurences of yesterday, remind me of my days in London when the IRA were active.I have never felt as if i have suffered from post traumatic stress disorder, but for some reason the pictures on the tv brought it all back.My heart goes out to all who were caught up,in this awful, and horrid atrocity.

It was indeed a terrible thing to happen, it looks like it will be over 50 fatalities when the count is done. It would have been more if the emergency services weren't so well organised for such an occurrence. Condolences to all those who lost someone or were injured.

Tranwell - I'm glad there is someone approaching my age and can remember the IRA bombings of London, Birmingham and Guildford. I am afraid the human trait to maim and kill it's own kind is unheard of anywhere else in the animal kingdom. For Thousands of years fanatics have tried every which way to dominate and force their will upon others. If history has taught us anything, it is that in time, these cowardly fanatics are ALWAYS defeated. Yet the time it takes, is always a time of woeful lament, a time whereby we find ourselves questioning our beliefs, and a time when neighbour suspects neighbour. We question whether there is any sanity left in this world, most of us would agree, I believe, that sanity deserted this world years ago. As the human race got smarter it also got dumber. I have known many conflicts in my (nearly) 50 years on this earth and no doubt, before I die I will see many more. The one thing I do promise myself is that I will not become detached from showing feeling for the innocently slain. I will never stop voicing condemnation at the terrible waste of life that we bring to each other, and I will never stop crying for the children who are taken so early from this earth because "Adult kind" cannot work out their differences in any other way other than by killing.
As a Londoner I send the people of London my condolences.
As a member of the Human Race i hang my head in shame.
