did you know that the stories of Adam and the great flood were written in the Sumerian writings too as it`s told in Bible and Kuran? Neither Judaism, Christianity, or Islam recognizes the pagan religions, but how come they happen to tell the same stories?

This is a very interesting article especially if you still believe in the religion crap.

Well, I don't know about Judaism and Islam, but I can assume it worked the same way as Christianity - when you wanted people to become followers of a religion, it wasn't a painless process. People who grew up believing in tree-gods and other things were not eager to abandon their forefathers faith. Some people converted to a new religion just like that, others had it imposed on them by force, but some others were just pretending to be converted while still practising pagan rituals. Eventually, Christian Church accepted some rituals and traditions as claimed it was not pagan but Christian (like Christmas tree for example).

As for mythology, it's no wonder that these 3 main religions share similar stories as they all took from pagan beliefs. Pagan mythologies were similar, so, in result, all religions that took from them, are similar too. Even Daniken refers to the same myths explaining aliens' influence on us

Right, but the question is, if the pagan religions are not divine as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam state, how come they narrate the story of Adam as it's told in these three "divine" religions? Now, there are two possibilities;

1) The pagan religions are divine too. If that's the case, we have to believe there are multiple gods which the three major religions refuse.

2) The so called divine religions namely Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are not divine either just like the pagan religions.

Which one sounds more plausible?

This is a very interesting subject. Certainly in Christianity, there are many examples of it. Christmas itself (December 25th) is not Jesus's birthday, but was a pagan winter festival which was "adopted" by the Christians. Halloween is celebrated (yuck!) throughout much of the Christian world, yet is a pagan celebration.

The fact that most of religion is geographical and that even the most devout Christian would be a Muslim if they had been born in another country, merely shows to me what a farce it all is.

i believe superitory of ethical rules instead of religional rules or beliefs,easier to find most common paths with ethical rules with the simple help of mind&soul...And some unvolitional things (belifes,nationalites,races etc.. )become reason of big divisions and troubles,not easy to understand that while our minds have enough ability for to find most common true things

Just think about it a minute ...

If Adam and the Noah's Flood are true, then why is it surprising that ALL old texts from this period refer to them? Like history.

If they are not true, then it is surprising that both the Sumerian and Jewish history tell the story of a flood.

Not so much interesting since God had sent to every nation/folk a messenger who preached the same teachings .

Nice choice I'd go for the second option but with further explanation. The way I see it, religions (faith/beliefs) have always been means of:

1. Explaining the unexplainable
However, together with technological and scientific progress more and more things become accounted for in terms of science. Thus, it would be funny to assume things like Moon or thunder are gods. As there's still a lot for us to discover, some people find it easier to believe that one superior creature controls everything rather than think that there's a couple of gods responsible for their departments.

2. Controlling communities - or, in other words, to assist the law. People are more likely not to commit crimes if they fear eternal consequences rather than 25 years of imprisonment

3. Helping to preserve spirit of unity - like language, customs and traditions, common religion helps people feel like unity in their communities. they get a sense of belonging - that also explains why religion is so geography-dependent. Like AE said, our religion is basically just repeating our parents behaviour

4. Imposing a set of rules (hygienic and moral) not included in legal systems - here's the pork ban in Islam, alms, depilation techniques, circumcision etc. People wouldn't be so eager to deprive young males of the skin on their sensitive parts if they didn't believe they're doing it for the upper cause

5. Psychological boost - a popular animal, like a human being is, gets the sense of being unique when they hear they're the chosen ones and that there is a supernatural superior being that loves them. Also, it helps many people to come to terms with their mortality - they're wooed by the perspective of an afterlife. Were there be no religions, many people would be reluctant to accept that we are here just to breed and obey biology just like all other animals we consider inferior to us.

Religions can easily be accounted for in terms of sociology and psychology. I see nothing divine about them. They are often abused but we cannot underestimate the positive effect they have on many people.

I read this joke the other day

The quran is at a job interview. The boss asks, "Do you have references?" quran replies, "Torah and Bible, call them." So the boss calls Torah, and Torah replies, "I have never heard of him." Confused, the boss calls Bible and Bible says, "I know him; he is a liar and a thief and is actually from Satan, the devil, don't believe him." Pressed by the boss, quran defends "they are liars." And the boss reasons: "if they are liars, why do you use them for references unless you are insane?"

lol

Look, whos talking about respect , post of ignorance and immaturity. Maybe again her Turkish boyfriend sent this ridicule joke . And just one reply from Kuran;

“whenever they hear vain talk of ridicule, they withdraw from it decently and say, 'To us our deeds and to you yours - Peace be upon you! We do not seek out the ignorant.' “
