Well the reference to Cat's PKK lapdog was unprovoked and evidently designed to rile someone, although I didn't realise the target until I read the counter response. Seems some "button pressing" has been going on here and now the result is never satisfactory for anyone.

So, can the discussion carry on without the flack please because I for one would like to learn more about the political history of Turkey without the personal battles permeating events. I am learning how emotive the issues are and that's important, because no historical text can convey it in quite the same way. But discussions are often left hanging in the air because they get out of hand and personal.

I really do want more meaningful discussion so that I can make more informed decisions, for myself, about these issues. I can be lazy at times and the discussions also help to make other reading material on the subject easier to digest.

Maybe you misunderstood me. I did not say you were PKK lapdog. Yes. this would be very bad for me to say.
I said you were Catwoman's lapdog.
Maybe not such a bad job...

Anyway...even I was shocked at how quickly my comment was responded to.
1. I agreed with Sui. I was surprised by Catwomans comment.
2. I went out last night and had several Efes in my favorite nisantasi pub. So when I got home, I was having a little fun on TC. I did not mention any names so I do find it funny that my intended subject knew exactly who I was refering to.
3. Anyway, maybe it wasn't so nice but it wasn't exactly horrible either.

Mr. Thehandsom. I think this is bringing more attention to the incident than just leaving the thread dead. But since you insist, I apologize for naming you as catwoman's lapdog...
Tchuss...

Is that excuse supposed to make your lack of taste any more palatable for your 'intended subject'??

This has reminded me two Turkish sayings:
One of them is: 'insanlar ne olursa olsun, nerede olursa olsun hamlar ve olgunlar diye ikiye ayrilirlar' in a quick translation it will be 'where ever or who ever they are, people are split into two categories: mature and unrefined'

The other one is 'ozuru kabahatindan buyuk' (the excuse is more despicable than the crime itself)

This is not an excuse, this is simply insisting on being vile and crude.

Simply rejected.

I was thinking the same thing. What will her PKK lapdog think of this coming from her?

Memory lapse Keith??? OK no names were mentioned but from past history you knew he would know exactly who you meant. Extremely insulting comment I thought.

I'm reminded of a Bogart quote, having read your explanation:

“Things are never so bad they can't be made worse.”

and for all of us there's his famous line from Casablanca:

“It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people doesn't add up to a hill of beans in this crazy world. "

The word "little" is not meant in a derogatory sense btw.

Of course there's that old British proverb:

Biting and scratching is Scots folk's wooing.

So we all love each other really But we must not forget the Australian Aboriginal words of warning:

"Those who play at bowls must look out for rubbers."

I've got to go now so . . .

"May you have warmth in your igloo, oil in your lamp, and peace in your heart."

(Eskimo proverb)

(nearest I could get to an eskimo)

Yes - but you didn't delete the post containing your quote did you? So it was still there for everyone to see. Thehandsom is not 'giving it life', in my opinion he has every right to be deeply offended by your comment - apology or no apology.
