You're not the only one that cricitizes islam.
I m living near the seaside, we also discuss about islam in respectful way. For example they keep asking me, do muslims marry 3 times. etc. I explain them everything. I think this is what the respect is.

So what do you say about those men who do marry 4 times and who marry 9 year old girls in muslim countries? Yes, they probably don't do it in Turkey very much, but in some countries they do... because prophet Mohammed did it. Do you approve? Or do you criticize it?

Well the fact is most arranged marriages work out quite well. Given the state of marriage in the West, I really don't think you have anything to talk about. You really don't understand the process, so you think it's horrible. The fact of the matter the West is actually starting to change and we now see a proliferation of match making services and sites. Some are "high tech" some are not, but the process is the same.

Alameda, we discussed this before already! In the west, there are consenting adults, who do with their lives what fits them best, even if it's an arranged marriage. In the west, people divorce when they are not happy and it's their basic right to do so. There's nothing wrong with marriages in the west. There are other problems, but not that.

You are completely ignoring the fact that most arranged marriages are marriages of little girls. Girls which are 12 - 15 are sold by their parents to twice or three times older men. Other arranged marriages again do not allow the woman to get any education or career of her own, it always leaves her dependent, almost a slave of the 'husband'. If these arranged marriages were free and equal, it would not be a problem at all. Are you that naive about this?

Some of the countries except Turkey and who are not religion they also marry. Of course I dont approve marriage with children.

Also child-abuse on internet started in USA. %85 of those materials are hosted/done in USA which are known by the CIA, We're living in 2008 btw. Think about it..

Netherlands ; child-abuse party. You should check it out. in 2008.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5038682.stm

Also prophet Mohammed married cause at that time non-muslims were killing children. For the protect her. He married her. when she is an adult, they totally married if that is what you meant.

Why dont you cricitize USA/Netherlands then. In 2008 what they are doing ? What's wrong with you is, there are 3 cases above, you're blind about others, cant see any post of you about others.

Of course I criticize those things, everybody criticizes them. It is actually considered to be criminal behavior, you know?
Unlike in those islamic countries, where marrying children is the social norm. There are even no statistics about it for those countries.

Catwoman, I don't think you quite have your finger on the pulse of this site. In case you hadn't noticed, most of the content of the debates, you instigated with the thread "What is wrong with Muslimes?" has been discussed already . . . many times.

Catwoman, again you are talking about the MOST extreme cases. You are talking about something quite different that that which I referred to. For your information it is against Islamic law to marry anyone against their will. Also, marriage can not be consummated with a child, that is against the law and against Islamic law.

I don't know where you are getting your information. The only country that has laws that allow the marriage of young girls is Yemen, not exactly a typical example.

Are we to take the example of the FLDS Church as the typical US marriage, your example is as ridiculous.

Silence =

1. I agree
2. I disagree
3. I don't understand the conversation, so I'm steering well clear
4. I'm neutral
5. I'm a Trappist Monk (actually it's a bit of a myth that they take a vow of silence)

6. I couldn't give a fig

Mostly I focus on issues that are not criticized enough - pornography, Islam, patriarchy in the west, racism and sexism in the west. These issues are more difficult and the mainstream has accepted one version or another for their convenience. As far as Islam, people are afraid to criticize it... for fear of their lives.
Topics like child abuse and molestation is obvious and easy.
