Quoting yilgun-7: Congratulations, because it is not easy to drive. You should be cool-headed and careful always. And safety distances/spaces and traffic flows and traffic signs and road conditions are very important in the country.

ohh, balim came off it.It is easy, easier than horse riding...but it is like poker game...you never know what the other driver on the road has in his mind

has never been to but a word about Spain
they have wonderful cars and almost no speed limit or alcohol limit...stopping before zebra crossing just like reading in your mind..after Spain coming back to my country is a challenge for the pedestrian..no respect...the best way to cross the road in Poland is to learn to fly

I don´t understand why PT picked on LIR for pointing out his mistake - correction is a very important thing when you´re working on your language. After all the mistake was not in one of the posts but in the thread title. Also, I think I am guilty of using the word license instead of licence although I´m trying to keep British standards. Still, I feel forgiven as I am not a native
Anyway, about drivers - I asked a Turkish friend of mine what he´d found most difficult about driving in Poland. He replied that the hardest part was remembering that the STOP sign is an imperative not a suggestion

Quoting yilgun-7: What Kind of Driver Are You?
Cool-headed, careful and experienced? |
Back to the question!
I am all of those things and more.............
got a couple of tickets for speeding, get annoyed at dithering, blundering, incompetent idiots - like those who drive in the middle lane at 50mph so it forces me to undertake them (now illegal in the UK). People who are slow at leaving the green light (or amber in my case ) infuriate me!
But aside all of that most people feel safe with me........................ 35 years of accident free driving

You´re absolutely right, correction is very important when learning a language. However, the way it is done is also important and IMO a pm would have been more appropriate in this instance. It would have helped Yilgun in the future. The thread isn´t on the translation forum.
The licence/license issue doesn´t bother me, or any other US English use. I try not to use US English but I would never correct anyone else (apart from children in school of course LIR)for using it. I mentioned it only because I was surprised LIR hadn´t spotted it and picked Yilgun up on that too in other words I was having a ´dig´ at LIR).
DD you are entitled to your opinion and your view didn´t surprise me in the least.
And before LIR is driven back to the bar . . .
My driving is much better when I´m alone in the car. I talk too much when there´s someone else in the car and that affects my concentration. My navigation skills are 100% better when I am alone too. For some reason, when I have a passenger I defer to them for directions . . . very odd I know.

It´s nothing but the pot calling the kettle black. You could have informed LIR about how you interpreted her post via PM too instead of provoking a five-page pointless discussion...Don´t preach what you don´t follow yourself...
