When people come to Turkey for the first time, many are wary about the food they eat. They often avoiding fruits and vegetables, worried about both the water within and that used to wash it. Whole cucumbers from a street vendor seem to be a big concern. So do meat and chicken, the latter perhaps for obvious reasons.

So after cautiously avoiding the foods they think will cause a problem, they are surprised when several days into their visit, their tummies rumble, seemingly doing complete somersaults; nausea overtakes them; and before long, they have lost everything they consumed in recent meals.

When you are having a vacation, are you careful with what and where to eat? Do you avoid places? I must say I do, no bain marie for me and in very, very hot countries no salads (unless I cleaned them myself), only sealed bottles of water, no unpacked icecream etc. It did not always help (so imodium and ORS are always in my luggage   ) but I think it surely decreased the number of toilet visits.... lol

During my six travels to Turkey (in total 112 days) I had twice stomach problems, both after visiting Urfa, is that coincidence?

I always carry imodium too but, thankfully, I´ve never needed it in Turkey and, like you, I´ve been several times.

Another precaution,  when travelling abroad, never have ice in drinks when you´re out.
