Mosques will become cultural and social centers in addition to religious ones as part of an initiative to be launched by the Religious Affairs Directorate.

The directorate, which supervises all imams and mosques around the country, has prepared a development plan that includes a pilot project to equip 200 mosques with libraries, tearooms, classrooms and multipurpose halls in 2010.

Mosques will be equipped with facilities to allow the congregation to spend time there outside of prayers, with special measures to be taken for the disabled and women.

wow, this is really nice, i think all mosques should have these things, like alot of mosques here have free hospitals for the poor attached to them, alot of them give school uniforms plus school supplies for the needy for free to increase the rate of children going to school, they have sports fields and little or big (depending on the size) and sometimes plant in them some veggies and stuff to also give to the needy, same with churches here, most of them have these things attached to them plus retiring homes, i think that these places shouldnt only be places for worship, but also to help the communty and help educate them, many poor ppl take refugee in mosques and sleep in them at night.. etc, etc

GO TÜRKİYE!!!!
