Işte

How many times haven´t i heard someone say ´işte´.

Apart from the meaning ´at work´, could anyone give some examples as to when to use

´işte´ like it´s commonly being used?

İşte. (like because but no explanation after that)

Kitabımi bulamıyorum / I can´t find my book.

İşte burda (it is here, in front of you)

A couple of them.

Doudi94, you´re right. I´ve also seen that McDonalds slogan many times in Turkey. The meaning of it would be rather something like: This is it, this is what i like, i assume. It´s not a question, but a statement.

Seems to me it´s used a bit like ´voila!´ is used in French.

Another example:

Nasılsın?

Eeeee işte napayım

How are you?

Hmmm well, what should I do? (Im ok, just the same as usual, dont expect to hear any exciting news from me, something like that )

İşte böyle: that´s the way it is.

´Ya bilmiyorum işte´

Well I just don´t know! (don´t ask further because Ive told you I just dont know)

İşte, ben de öyle dedim ona.

See, I said the same to her.

Precisely, that´s what I told her as well!

until you´ve spent years learning işte you´re almost guaranteed to misuse it. There´s no dırect translation, but you´re right it´s very close to the french viola (sp?)

One of it´s many meanings is as boş ver, "don´t ask, who cares anyway?"

-işte yaptım, o kadar

Another is as ne olsun,"isn´t is obvious?" or "What could it be?"

-hayatım işte, okula git gel git gel
