 According to world media=

Obama is going to win the race (%57).

It seems obama has the presidency...

People, Hilary Clington and Colin Powell endorse Obama.

Obama welcomes endorsements.

Hilary, Powell and Obama together.

They say :

" The middle class has been invisible to G.Bush...We will rise again.."

"We can bring sunshine back to America."

"We are not going to change unless we change the White House."

"We need change."

Hilary says "We can not risk 4 more years."

Media says "Hilary and Powell will have important roles in administration."

U.S.Election Day

How you call the election results...

Not really sure what you mean by your question but here in the US we use an electoral college....which means each state is worth so many electoral votes.  The candidate who reaches 270 electoral votes wins the election.  This process is usually done by the evening of the election or by the next day.

For my American friends.....(and you bed friends from everywhere else!!)

THIS IS A NONPARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY BOTH
PARTIES! NOT ONLY THAT, IT IS POLITICALLY CORRECT!!.......and so
timely!

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

´Welcome to heaven,´ says St. Peter. ´Before you settle in, it seems there
is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts,

You see, so we´re not sure what to do with you.´

´No problem, just let me in,´ says the senator.

´Well, I´d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we´ll do is
have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose

where to spend eternity.´

´Really, I´ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,´ says the senator.
´I´m sorry, but we have our rules.´

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down,

down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle

of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in

front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake
his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at
the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar
and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly

guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having

such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises .

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where

St. Peter is waiting for him.

´Now it´s time to visit heaven.´

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving
from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and,
before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

´Well, then, you´ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose
your eternity.´

The senator reflects for a minute, then answers: ´Well, I would never have said
it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off
in hell.´

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to
hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he´s in the middle of a barren land
covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it
in black bags as more trash falls from above...

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. ´I don´t
understand,´ stammers the senator. ´Yesterday I was here and there
was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank
champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there´s just a wasteland

Full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?´

The devil looks at him, smiles and says.......

´Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted.

comedians, who make a racial joke about african-americans with 100 audience can get to prison for this, lose there reputation, and eventually their job.  while african-americans such as Jeremiah Wright with a whole lot more audience can say racist comments against caucasians and guess what????.... he´s still preaching.

Yes,  brought up the comments...because they were disgusting.  If you weren´t interested in talking about it then perhaps you shouldn´t have asked what was racist about them.

And if you are going to state that African Americans get away with anything that caucasians don´t, you should be able to defend your statements.....if you can´t...that speaks enough!

if u can give me an example, a statistic, an article of an african-american who gets legally prosecuted for "racial slurs" i´ll detract my comment. and issue an apology

I don´t want your apology and I´m not going to do your homework for you.  You are the one making these statements and you are the one unable to defend them.

It´s clearly a waste of time to ask you to support what you say.

thank you.... i don´t understand how people can be so high-strung. my issue was if Obama is a legitimate candidate, in the first place. dunno why it got out of hand like this...

and the racist issue is a different issue for me for the video i posted. if i could post the video without the comments with it, i would, but i can´t.

The problem with the video you posted is that it is vile and slanderous and filled with untruths.  Of course Obama is a legitimate candidate, as McCain. I prefer Obama, but that is my choice. We need to keep to the actual facts, not propaganda.

As for racisim, the fact of the matter is the percentage of nonwhites incarcerated is far greater then their proportion in the society....what do you think that says?

Well, I don´t think I posted a "low blow". I´m sure I´ve said worse things then that. GG is right, its my opinion and I´m allowed to voice it. What I didn´t see is yours. I´m assuming thats because you don´t have one? If you voice it by posting videos I can post tons about every candidate thats ever ran for President. Old friends and fellow POW´s of McCain that have some pretty dirty stuff on McCain as well, but I will not post one stating he is not a citizen because he was born in the Panama Canal or something that is just nonsense.

Try not to get to hung up on racial issues, its a loosing battle. Good luck to you and your candidate tonight, I´m off to have a good time watching the election.{#lang_emotions_flowers}

My Dear....and I say that honestly, not in a sarcastic manner. From your photo, you appear to be very young. The African Americans have had a very difficult time of it.

Please read this account of Northrup Soloman´s life as a slave. It is a long read, but well worth reading as it will perhaps give you some insite into the problems these people had to deal with. To you slavery seems a long time away, but the reality is, actual slaves are still in living memory. There are those alive today who remember a grandmother who was a former slave. They were left with very little.

If you understand what these people have had to endure, you might have some more compassion and understanding.

You know, the simple fact of the matter is I have heard more than a few "white" people uttering racial slurs, but have not heard the same from none whites.

However, racial slurs are ugly no matter who does it.

I think you can actually lay the blame for Ohio (if blame is what you are looking for) right at the steps of the White House.  Ohio has been hard hit by this economic crisis.

Bush and his policies, which McCain whole-heartedly supported and would continue if he were elected…..is what pushed Ohio in Obama’s direction.

You can´t solely blame the Bush administration..you fail to forget who has been running the congress the last two years. Not to mention our Democratic Governor Strickland.  The struggeling cities in Ohio have had problems for years,, largely due to geographic locations and bigger businesses moving to more attractable locations.  For the first time in Ohio we have had early voting and 61% of our younger population found Obamas liberal views more appealing, no surprise there.  Not to mention the heavy campaigning and voter fraud that saturated this state.   I just hope his claim about coal companies doesn´t come to light, since Ohio has a big coal industry.  I guess time will only tell..

A very good estimation for the Media as 20 Oct 2008.

As we estimated at the beginning,  Obama Elected President.

Obama (D)  : 52 %  ,  McCain (R)  : 46%.

An American Revolution.

Obama won because of social and political reasons as follows:

1-Iraq

2-Afganistan

3-Terrorism

4-Social Security

5-Health

6-Education

7-Racialism

8-Financial / Economic crisis

9-Neoliberalism policies

10-A new John Maynard Keynes´s economic theory approach

11-Retirement policies

12-Controlled economy

13-Globalisation

  14-Community culture

  15-World Public Union

Media and Public Union influenced the outcome….

Obama to be the first African-American President in U.S.history.

  Obama elected 44Th US President.

  Change has come to America?

But as president, Barack Hussein Obama will face a struggling economy and two wars.

Some Americans says he is inexperienced….

Leaders should have some knowledge of real world history, religions and geograhy.

It is time. This is their time.

  We’ll see, what happens?

Don´t pretend they have conjured up all the common criminals and that is why he was so far ahead. I´m sure the "ghetto" population is not the majority vote.

.......get real teaschip.....voter fraud????? It´s more like voter supression. ACORN registers voters, they do not certify the registrations. By law they are required to turn in all voter registrations they make. They do go through them and divide the registrations into three piles, those they can certify, those that are suspicious and those that they flag as being fraudlent. Those registrations are then sent in to authorities for certification.

As regarding stolen elections....how about Ohio 2004?.....or 2000?

Obama is one of the most qualified candidates we have ever had for president. He was the top of his class at Harvard, President of the Harvard Law review, a constitutional law professor for 12 years....and that is before becoming State Senator and later US Senator. He has spent time in the communities doing Community Organizing.

He has a big job ahead of him and he needs all our help. I´m sick of the politics of bigotry, fear and coroporate socialism. You know, privitize the profits, socialize the loss?

Maybe you didn´t hear but Acorn  turned in over 200,000 votes that people claim they never voted to begin with. They were giving people in the gettos free taxi rides and paying them $20.00.  Call that suppression if you would like...it´s more like corruption.  Maybe you need to read up on Acorn and all their lawsuites against them. in previous years.  Keep reassuring yourself he is the most qualified...We will see what he accomplishes in the next four years, since clearly he hasn´t accomplished a thing in his life. The issue is not that lawsuites were filed against them. The issue is were there any convictions?

Are you and your ilk going to spend the next four years obstructing anything that Obama tries to acomplish?

As I stated in my earlier post, ACORN registers voters, they do not certify them. That is NOT voter fraud.

 nothing....how about these?

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In August 2005, he traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world´s supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks.<61>

Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories.

He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya.

Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D–WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act", which was signed into law in September 2007.

He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections.

Obama also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act", a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008.<68>

Later in 2007, Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for a review by the Government Accountability Office following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs.

joined Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in introducing legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism.A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children´s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries. After passing both houses of Congress with bipartisan majorities, SCHIP was vetoed by President Bush in early October 2007, a move Obama said "shows a callousness of priorities that is offensive to the ideals we hold as Americans."

Wow, how impressive Alamada.   Where was he 129 times when he voted "present"  which means undecided..We are talking about ammendments that he was part of a committee on, rarely never initiated himself.  He has only been a Senator for 956 days....now he is president.  I could also provide pages and pages on why he is not qualified.  But the people have spoken at least 52% feel he will answer their prayers.  Let´s just hope he does.

 I didn´t say the election was stolen, however it has been proven that voter fraud did take place in Ohio.  When you have a government who pays speciality interest groups like Acorn to solicit the gettos of our cities in a biased manner this was a contributing factor here.  As far as being gracious...I wish him all the luck in the world.........he´s going to need it.{#lang_emotions_bigsmile}

Sour grapes!  Tell us please that Bush did not get the vote rigged last time, with his promises (false promises) to the Cubans in Florida??????

Yes but FF is gone now.  It´s time for a new election!  I am offically announcing my candidacy for First Lady.

My platform will be:

balance between shallow and deep (although I am still trying to perfect this),

to bring gum to every tea party (an homage to CGG),

to continue with handsom´s waxings,

and of course to stay the same super-sweet-beautiful-soul you have all come to know and love!  {#lang_emotions_angel}

"California voters approve gay marriage ban"

Voters put a stop to same-sex marriage in California, dealing a crushing defeat to gay-rights activists in a state they hoped would be a vanguard, and putting in doubt as many as 18,000 same-sex marriages conducted since a court ruling made them legal this year.

The gay-rights movement had a rough election elsewhere as well Tuesday. Ban-gay-marriage amendments were approved in Arizona and Florida, and Arkansas voters approved a measure banning unmarried couples from serving as adoptive or foster parents. Supporters made clear that gays and lesbians were their main target.

Wow... that is horrible!!! The most diverse nation on earth still cannot grasp the idea that there are homosesual people out there! Shame on you!

congratulations for Obama.

but there are just a few couple of things, that i worry about.

first the Asian market/economy. Obama is against outsourcing work outside US. There is a big chance that he may impose taxes for industries that would want to employ people outside US. Bigger taxes for industries, and companies, means lower income for employees. A lot of developing countries (such as my country, Philippines,  India, etc) depend on industries that employ workers outside of America for a decent amount of income.

I work for 2 US based companies. IF a higher tax is imposed, that would mean a lower income for us. They have 2 options, lower our wages, or cut back on manpower.  A lower income is not fit for us, who are already struggling with our economy. our currency is losing against dollar. although we get paid in dollars, which mean a higher exchange rate, prices for food, gas, shelter are getting higher. So the income that we make is not in equilibrium with the bills, and prices we have to pay. If we don´t get satisfied with the income we are getting, there is no point in working for a minimum amount of wage. It is a loss for us, AND the companies that we are working for. Why for the companies? because they had to pay taxes that was imposed to them, and yet they would lose employees that cannot work for minimum wage, or they will not have enough manpower that they need to support their business. a lot of us are becoming anxious,  because our employers are getting anxious on what to expect as well. so i don´t know what will happen about that.

although are economies are separate, we are still a global economy. a failure in one economy, will eventually affect the other.

another thing is the wealth redistribution. The concept does sound good, from the point of view of those who will receive the money. However, for the people who are working hard to earn the money, and lose a part of the profit they are making to be redistributed to non-working people in society... it doesn´t sound unfair. It is not wrong to help people who are in need. But why take money from other people´s pocket to be given to people who are not even working?

How will this wealth redistribution be implied? Again, through taxes. The money that you are working hard for... you will be taxed for it, to be redistributed to people who don´t have work. hmmmm... i dunno what better way to explain it... ok i´ll try to give an example...

Let´s try to see it in a simplified form.

A girl walks past a homeless guy, carrying a sign saying he needs money. She walks across the street, goes to a restaurant, orders food and pays the bill. The waiter that had worked for her, waiting on her order, serves her food, does every request she makes, is waiting for her to pay the bill, and of course with the expectation of a tip. After all, he worked hard enough for her to be satisfied. But then as she pays the bill, she refuses to give him a tip... why? because she will redistribute the money to the homeless guy that needs it. A noble act from the girls pov, because helping the homeless is a good thing. But what about the waiter who had worked for money? Why should it be his loss, when he is the one working hard for it? that is how wealth redistribution works. at least that´s how i see it.

(this actually did happen...the customer didn´t give him a tip because he wanted to give it to the homeless guy waiting outside.  the waiter was really frustrated about it)

i have relatives that are immigrants in the US. it´s hard for them to cope with taxes already, and this wealth redistribution.... it just.... sucks...

Everything that you are working hard for, a part of that will be redistributed to other people. we are all already suffering in an economic crisis as it is, and to be taxed again for it? it´s just too much i think. Wealth redistribution is not the solution.

Why not give more job opportunities to support those who don´t have work, and are in need of money, instead of using other people´s income?

I´m just speaking from my own personal point of view. my own opinion. how i see it affects me, my country, and my relatives that live in US.

but then again... i guess i´ll just have to wait and see what this new regime can bring to all of us...

(come to think of it, politicians are notorious for making promises they can´t keep.... hmmm... let´s just wait and see... )

And the US depends on companies that are based in the US to hire employees IN the US so that our own people are not losing their jobs, homes and the ability to educate their children.

Americans have seen how the outsourcing of the our workforce has impacted our economy. Sorry to say, but this is a time for us to be worrying about our problems….which is usually what other countries seem to want us to do…..or is it only ok if it profits them economically? {#lang_emotions_unsure}

Sounds like you have been inundated with too much political rhetoric from the Republican media. This is a concept that McCain flew with because of one comment by Obama.

According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, here are the tax savings under McCain’s plan vs. Obama’s plan:

Annual Income                    McCain                            Obama

Over $2.9M                         -$269,364                       +$701,885

$603K and up                     -$45,361                         +$115,974

$227K-$603K                      -$7,871                           +$12

$161K-$227K                      -$4,380                           -$2,789

$112K-$161K                      -$2,614                           -$2,204

$66K-$112K                        -$1,009                           -$1,290

$38K-$66K                          -$319                              -$1,042

$19K-$38K                          -$113                              -$892

Under $19K                         $19                                 -$567

Clearly Obama’s plan will help the middle earners of America and raise taxes on the wealthy, who under Republican rule have been privy to all kinds of tax relief.

There is nothing wrong with those that earn more paying more. Not to mention the fact that McCain wanted to tax health benefits for the first time in history.

So…which do you think is a better plan?

Quoting justinetime

(this actually did happen...the customer didn´t give him a tip because he wanted to give it to the homeless guy waiting outside. the waiter was really frustrated about it)

Tips are not guaranteed and should not be expected. The word it is an acronym for “to insure good service”.

Maybe the waiter didn’t deserve the tip that day or maybe last time this customer was in the restaurant, she tipped higher than the standard.

If on that particular day, the customer felt like giving to someone in need….good for them.

Quoting justinetime

It would probably be a great thing if your country worked on their own economic issues instead of depending on the US for it’s citizens to make a living wage.

I don´t feel the need for diplomacy when the person I am speaking with does not give in kind.  I also don´t feel any need for diplomacy when the person I am speaking with makes statements that they cannot or will not defend upon challenge.

Just because I disagree with you does not mean I think you are uneducated in general....but you have not shown that you are knowledgeable in the American political scene.   It was a sincere suggestion.....but you chose to make it inflammatory...that´s your issue.

The use of words also entails societal context. In the US the term "regime" has negative conotations. Even though the technical dictionary definition may be the same, the actual use has different meanings depending on the culture one is dealing with.

BTW another interesting one is the word propaganda. It´s been changed to Public Relations, Advertising...and so forth. In reality it´s all propaganda. Edward Bernays is considered the father of Public Relations.....

Cultural context is one of the problems with learning a language.

............and yes, I do agree with you, we all need to hone our diplomatic skills. I for one am guilty of errors in that domain. Many of my verbal communications are too dry for much of the world....

He hasn´t even started yet. He will, I´m sure displease a lot of people who didn´t get their choice. Even out of those that voted for him, I´m sure there are more than a few who will find things to be upset about.

He has a very complicated job to do. He has been left with two wars, an ecomomy is crisis. I sincerely think he is the best man for this daunting job. Please be patient

As far as outsourcing jobs, what would you do? Would you feed your own children, or send money to a third country where things are cheaper, while your own children starve?

Right now I´m reminded of JFK´s words..."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"  In reading that speech again, I came upon these words that came right after that...." My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man"
