I use firefox most of the time. as for the os, the first operating system I used was windows 3.1 in 1995, then I used win 95, 98, me, ubuntu. now I use both win xp and pardus linux, but I`m planning to upgrade to the mac-os soon
Why the Mac OS? Do you do a lot of graphics? I´m looking at VMware.

I use XP and IE 7 on my PC. I have Vista on my laptop. I have no problems with it but I don´t use any peripherals on my laptop.
Do you ever print from your laptop? Do you use flashdrives?

Canli, it very much depends on just what you want to do with your computer. Have you checked out Ubuntu or Openoffice?
Firefox is much faster than IE. Reinstall it if you can. It´s great. As for Vista, check your programs and current hardware for compatability. I spent hours trying to get a scanner to work, it didn´t and will never work on Vista. I had to use an older system to use my scanner...and it was a Canon scanner.

yes I`m into photography, so I use photoshop and lightroom quite often but other than that I like macs better than other computers and I think using windows on a mac wouldn`t make much sense.

I´ve been using OpenOffice for years and find it´s great! I don´t have any problems with it as it has everything I need. Download it if you can.
I do have Windows installed on all the computers I use. The issue is my programs only work on Windows, but they are odd programs that you would probably never have a need for. For any regular work, word processing, spread sheets, presentations, Openoffice has everything you need.

I´m into photography also, but use a program called Painter. I have the original versions. It´s a great program.I have Photoshop, but never use it.
Have you ever seen Thumbsplus. I´ve been using this program for years and would not want to be without it. At least I can find my media files and organize them. It´s a fabulous program.

I`ve never heard of these programs. I don`t do digital manipulation, so photoshop elements 4 is more than enough for me.

Ddo you use a digital camera? I don´t use film anymore. Although I have a wonderful SLR, it´s too large and cumbersome to carry around. Now I use a small digital camera (Casio) and take more photographs, and am able to experiment more. If I see something I´d like to take a photograph of, the camera is there. If it´s not with me it´s not useful.
Thumbsplus is a program that shows you a tree where your media files are. You can then view them, see what properties they have and retrieve them, reduce the size or change the format if you wish. You can also change contrast sharpen and a few other things. I use it mostly so I can find them.
Painter is a program I use to draw with. You use a stylus and a drawing tablet. It allows you to make the stylus into a variety of devices, such as a crow quill pen, water color brush, air brush, charcoal or other drawing tools. You can also change the texture of the surface you are drawing on to be smooth paper, rough paper and so on. You can also get down to the pixel level if you want to do restoration. I´ve used it to restore old photographs.

yes I use a digital camera (canon 300d) but I got a leica iiia last year which is older than my grandfather (made in 1936), it`s a nice rangefinder, and I want to use it, I just don`t know how to use it without an exposure meter. you have to do everything manually with this camera.

At home I run both my desktop and laptop with XP Pro SP2 in workgroup mode. The laptop has IE6 and the desktop IE7.
At work (I work in a primary school) we have two servers running Windows Server 2003, two running Windows Server 2008 and one Linux cache box currently running RedHat but probably changing to Debian early in the new year. We then have 180 computers all running XP Pro in domain mode and all with IE6 installed and locked down to stop users upgrading to IE7.
We don´t use VMWare but instead use MS Virtual PC. I have a copy on the backup domain controller with a virtualised Server 2003 running on it to host our screen capture software and anti-virus management and deployment console. I also have a copy on my own desktop which runs two virtual machines - one for testing patches and software upgrades and the other purely for building MSIs for centralised software management.
