Anyway, I am not complaining I am just saying that it seems strange because WE (in the UK!!) don´t say it until after New Years Eve....then it goes on and on.....and on...all through January lol

It is a bit like tempting fate......in case you don´t make it until January 1st

Anyway, I am not complaining I am just saying that it seems strange because WE (in the UK!!) don´t say it until after New Years Eve....then it goes on and on.....and on...all through January lol

It is a bit like tempting fate......in case you don´t make it until January 1st

I think you have had one to many lemsips!  I was unaware of the "custom" and wished people Happy New Year in December, before I finished work!!!!

But I guess you mean as a form of celebration, we usually wish people a Happy New Year as we see the New Year in at midnight on New Years Eve.

There are various traditions and superstitions around the UK the most notable is to take a piece of coal when you call upon a neighbour etc after seeing the New Year in.

But with that,

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

No I dont mean it as a form of celebration (at the exact time).  It just seems strange to wish it before the new years starts... unless you are actually wishing people a "happy new year´s eve celebration" I guess.... anyway I was being sarcastic about the English custom thing

It seems strange to have a New Year celbration........

Surely there are better things to celebrate than the passing of another year and becoming a year closer to departing one´s mortality!
