Interesting links. Thank you. I´ll have to spend more time going through it. I was surprised Turkissh architecture doesn´t have the emphasis on the courtyard, like in North Africa.
It´s interesting to see the similarity to Morrish architecture in Mexico´s old haciendas. The traditional homes were built around the courtyard.

Courtyard houses are very common in Damascene houses. If you ever visit Damascus you should go to Souk Hamidiyye next to the Umayyad mosque there is an old house (built in 1737) called jabri house (beit jabri) with a courtyard. It is transformed into a cafe restaurant. I visited 5 years ago and it was beautiful. http://www.jabrihouse.com/house.htm
Except for old palaces, I never saw a courtyard house in Lebanon!

I wonder if there are many courtyard houses in Turkia, and if so, where they are, and what period of time they flourished.
