A homeless Indian man who was burnt and beaten in after a savage attack in Italy at the weekend will undergo his first operation at Rome´s St Eugenio Hospital on Friday. First Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Rome, Sushmit Biswas, spoke to Adnkronos International (AKI) about the attack which left Navtej Singh Sidhu with a fractured skull and burns to 40 percent of his body.

The 35-year-old Sikh is currently in the intensive care unit of the hospital, after he was savagely beaten, insulted and set alight in the small hours of Sunday as he slept at the railway station in the coastal town of Nettuno, south of Rome.

Police have arrested three local youths aged between 17 and 30 on suspicion of Sidhu´s attempted murder for hitting him over the head with a bottle and kicking and punching him before spraying metallic paint in his face. They then doused him with petrol and set him alight.

Only YOU could come up with a thread title like this! lol

I have yet to see such a thread title about muslims, despite all the whinging from our eastern friends about this website being so biased against them

Just out of interest, how do you relate this attack to religion?  I thought Islam had the "honour" of being the only people to carry out vile acts in the name of their god?

I am disappointed in you - I thought you were more enlightened Tam.  The only reason people call those terrorists "muslim" is because THEY THEMSELVES carry out those acts in the name of their religion.

However, the example you gave above is completely different - unless you know something I don´t and these horrible Italian boys carried out this vile act in the name of Catholicism?

In any case, the victim in this article is real.  As a fellow human, I feel sad and upset that this happened.  Whether you are Christian, Muslim, atheist or whatever, it should not negate compassion.

Yesterday night a group of teenagers sprayed acid on the face of a grocer in my neighbourhood because he refused to sell them alcohols(because they are underage).

He is french of morrocan origins and the boys are french, morrocans, africans & spanish ( a mixture of christians and muslims)
Violence is spreading among the young
