Merhaba Roswitha.    thanks for the link.  terrific!  one of my sons has taken an interest in the particular sound of the sitar.  do you know of any links without vocals?  Im actually not sure if that instrumental sound from the video is a sitar but it sounds like it.  ....

This is the Turkish Poetry and Literature forum so I have moved the thread to Turkish MusicSingers and Lyrics forum which is actually for ´Discussion about Turkish music and lyrics, and translation of lyrics´.

With all due respect, what is a single link to a turkish song got to do with Turkish music, singers and lyrics?

Well, slightly more than Poetry and Literature I thought.  There was no other way I could move it - it should be in ´What am I listening to now´ thread but its not possible to move it to there.  I have asked Roswitha to post her song links in this thread but it seems she doesn´t want to.

I love the way she uses her voice. It´s an older style of singing. I have heard she is a protest singer...She was arrested some years ago.

The way she uses her voice is beautiful and is an older style Turkish singing.

Does anyone know if this voice usage has a name. I know Selda is a protest singer, that is not what I´m refering to, but the actual way she uses her voice. She does almost a crack in the voice.

I hear it in this one .

I dont think there is a name actually, though I  might be wrong but the way she uses her voice  is just her style..

Actually, I´ve heard other singers sing in the same style. It seems to be an older style. I guess it´s sort of like accapella doowap music was popular once, and it gave way to hiphop.

These guys used to sing in West 4th St subway station in New York. They were great!

Here´s another one....funny looking at the reactions of the passengers
