Turkey postpones carry-on liquid ban on commercial flights to April 20
Turkey will officially ban passengers on all commercial flights from carrying any liquids, gels and aerosols exceeding 100 milliliters in their hand luggage as of April 20 in line with international air security standards. The Turkish Civil Aviation Authority however earlier announced that the restriction would begin as of March 1.

According to the new regulation, passengers will be allowed to travel with liquids, gels and aerosols of a maximum of 100 ml each in their hand luggage.

Why?!!!  I thought all aiports had this ban in place for a couple of years now... I thought it was normal practise at all airports

Why are they so late to react?

 Me too!  I have flown in and out of Turkey for the past couple of years and it has always been in place.......... perhaps it is to do with the airline as much as the airport? {#lang_emotions_unsure}

Any other experiences from others visiting Turkey??

Or did we just take it for granted that this was the case??

No problem flying out of Bodrum Airport with a bottle of water - in fact we always take drink and something to eat into the airport - and visibly through the security check - as the price of the food/drink inside is so extortionate.

(If there are any terrorists reading this I am actually lying)

Disclaimer:  This does not mean that I think there are any terrorist members of TLC - but who knows who might be looking {#lang_emotions_ninja})

Hi, yes I too noticed that this was not in place in Bodrum airport after passing through the strictest of strict regulations going through Manchester airport I was shocked when at Bodrum none of this seemed to be in place.   As last summer I ventured there a lot with my now fiance, his work at the time involved going to the airport frequently, but as I always went, I watched people and their customs, and I noticed when there were English passengers lots of them were leaving their water bottles and coke, etc... before the security check points as you enter the airport, even though at that time people were still going through the check points with liquids in Bodrum airport.

I totally agree with the ridiculous prices within the airports, awful, but I remember we used to order tea from the small telephone on the wall outside departures, it was cheap compared to the prices inside, I can´t remember precisely but maybe something like 1 lira.  Anyway...

Bye for now x
