Following on from Justintime´s post, and how unsatisfactorily it has been advertised, I  thought I would post about earth hour. Most people would not even know that it exists.

Some 74 countries around the world will switch off lights in major cities at 08:30pm, local time for one hour.  It all begain in Sydney Austrialia in 2007 and has now become an annual event a round the world.  But how many individuals know????

Will you be switching off your lights?

Oops!  First I heard of it - and unfortunately nearly 2 hours too late now.  But hey, I think with our 4 or 5 power cuts every week  for up to an hour each time, this areas does its bit to save electricity!  lol

I have never heard about this. I don´t think a city in The Netherlands is on that list of 74.

It´s been advertised here quite extensively.  And yes, I plan on turning out my lights.

I was very very disappointed really. It was advertised here on TV, but the local commercial sucked so bad, (A Christmas Song as a soundtrack? offff) if they had used the advertisement I saw on Youtube, maybe it would have had more impact. here´s the link

and based on the comments made below the video, I guess only a few participated, and only a few really cared at all.

I was not aware of any advertising in the UK - the G20 Summit has grabbed that accolade.  I heard something on the news, but in relation to security rather than making a point about increasing awareness of global warming.

Well I have done "my bit" so didn´t take part.  I sold my beautiful car and got an economical one with low carbon emissions.  My life is over, Meltem can no longer accuse me of driving around in my sports car and trying to overtake men. No more hood down, wind in my hair, feeling free

I hope the world appreciates the huge sacrifice I have made for the environment ....
