Hi, I have arrange to have 4 boxes of goods transported to Antalya airport sometime this month. All that contains in these boxes are clothes and shoes. After reading a few articles on the internet, I am wondering, is it possible for these to go through Customs on just a 3 month visa or would I need to apply for a residental visa to get these cleared?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

I can only tell you from personal experience that when we shipped stuff out here (clothes, books, personal stuff - no electrical goods) 2 years ago we had to produce proof of residency (i.e. permit) to pick it up.  However, this was from Izmir docks and not the Airport - I don´t actually know anyone who has shipped their stuff out by air.  Might be best to get a Turkish friend to check Antalya airport customs for you.

Thanks for that, I´m guessing it would be the same!

What would happen if I address it to a turkish friend? Would they be able to clear it through customs? I remember reading a part on a website about customs and turkish nationals have to prove they have been living out of the country for at least the past 2 years am i right about this?

Thanks

Not sure if that would work - I was already in Turkey but my husband had to had to send a copy of his passport to the despatching copy and he - and he alone - had to be the one to pick the goods up from Izmir when they arrived 8 weeks later - producing his passport and residence permit.  I suppose if you addressed the boxes to a Turkish national then with proof of identity they would be able to pick up the goods for you - but it might look like gifts and they might have to pay tax on your boxes.  Have you actually arranged to send your items yet?- because we had quite a lot of paperwork to fill in, itemising the goods and their value for example.

yes I have all the boxes and paperwork here just waiting to send it back then they can send my boxes.

Sorry for all the questions but how much would the tax be? Because I would rather pay the tax than the hassle of getting a residency permit.

Does anybody else know weather a turkish national would be permitted to allow my items through customs rather than me getting a residency visa?

Thanks
