Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well.

1934...

These generous and moving words by Kemal Ataturk are also recorded in stone to greet visitors at Arý Burnu, on the Gallipoli (Gelibolu)Peninsula

Each year on 25th April, around 10,000 Australians and New Zealanders visit Turkey to take part in Memorial Services to remember those that sacrificed their lives in battle here in 1915.

This day is also a special holiday in Australia called ANZAC Day.

Of course, there were a lot of  great leaders in the world history.

But I have never seen a great and wise leader in the world history like Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, as Winston Churchill (Prime Minister of the UK from 1940 to 1945) said.

Bu Büyük Ýnsanýn Ruhu Þad Olsun.

My admiration to Ataturk is deeply rooted by my father but also by the fact that he saved Turkey from partition and made her a republic with his excellent visions of how country should be organised.

Atatürk reminds one of this century´s greatest man´s historic successes, leadership that gives inspiration to the Turkish people, foresighted comprehension of the modern world and the power and high courage of a military leader. The birth of a free Turkey out of a collapsing empire, the declaration with honour of New Turkey´s freedom and independence and to preserve it since then, is the work of Atatürk´s Turkish People. Without doubt, there´s no other example of Turkey ´s undertaking of deep and large revolutions together with the trust that a crowd has in him.

John F.KENNEDY (U.S. President, 10 November 1963)

My sorrow is that, there is no more possibility to fulfil my strong wish about the meeting with this man.

Franklin D.ROOSEVELT (U.S. President, 10 November 1963)

He had an embracing - like extraordinary leadership strength. He is vigilant, prompt, and intelligent enough to be attractive.

Gladys Baker (Reporter)

The death of Atatürk who saved Turkey during the war, and who resurrected the Turkish people, is not only a loss for his country, but it is also a great loss for Europe . The sincere tears drops that people from all classes have cried, are nothing more then the true reflection to this great man and the Father of the modern Turkey . (1938)

Winston CHURCHILL ( England ´s Prime Minister)

Due to the signing of the Ankara Treaty with the new Turkish State, French Prime Minister´s answer to the Assembly which cried he has betrayed us, he has come to terms with wild brigands, with Mustafa Kemal followers : The ones that you named wild brigands the hero Mustafa Kemal and all His soldiers, had they been here, we would have erected their statues one by one. I´m proud to have signed such an heroic treaty (1921)

French Prime Minister BRIAND

He was not only a great man for Turkey , but he was also a great leader for the Eastern People.

Emnullah HAN (Afghan King)

Mustafa Kemal Bey was born as a leader and he never feared to take responsibility. He had decided by himself to attack the enemy with the 19th division in the morning of 25th April. He had pushed the enemy towards the sea coast and had persistently and steadily resisted to all the arduous attacks during three months period. I can completely trust in his perseverance.

Liman Von SANDERS

German General

“Humanity has lost a personality having a character of a great soldier, genius, and a statesman and historical personality.

Adolf Hitler

The ones who want to restore peace and health in the painful world and who want the mankind to develop not only materially but also morally, must take as an example and rest upon Atatürk´s galvanization and course.

Professor Herbert MELZIG (Historian)

Atatürk was not only the Turkish people´s leader, but also he was the leader of all the people who fought for their freedom. Under his directives, you have gained your freedom. We too have followed that route to gain our freedom.

Mrs. Sucheta KRIPALANI (The President of the Indian Parliament Delegation)

Without doubt, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is one of the greatest statesmen that during the 20. Century and before the war has ever come up; he has been a brave and great reformist that no other people has ever known.

Ben Gurion (Israel Prime Minister 1963)

Kemal Atatürk is not only one of the greatest men of this century. In Pakistan , we see him as one of the greatest men of all eras. A military genius, a leader by birth and a great patriot.

Eyup Han (President of Pakistan )

Great men are at the head of the generations. At the head of the Turkish People, the great and genius Atatürk was an undaunted great and patriotic man in the political and battlefield arenas.

KERAMA (Lebanese Prime Minister, 10 November 1963)
