Unless it´s on your way to another place, I do not recommend visiting Pamukkale -- they are really not that impressive. I´d rather take a longer trip to Kapadokya.
How can you say that!!!!!!!!!  Come back another year and do Kapadokya.
My journey to Pamukkale was 5 hours each way and well worth it.......... despite having hardly any sleep the night before.
Pamukkale, yes the travertines are not what they used to be and there are bus loads of tourists at every turn, but there is more to see than just the travertines. Wander about in the old roman ruins, see caper bushes growing wild, just don´t follow all the other tourist groups..... when I went I was the only person except a lady picking capers and a group of Turkish teenage girls, anywhere near the ruins.
In a nutshell I am so pleased I went..... in fact the scenary on the way is also beautiful.
Only word of warning on the organised trips - they often end up at some point with purchasing opportunities, gold, onyx etc etc
I forgot to mention Dalyan and the mud baths .......... great fun!

mabe i will run into you while i am there i wish i could be there longer but i´ll be moving to turkey next year...hopefully.
The ruins were interesting, but no different then everywhere else... which is plenty.
