Gordon Brown insists Britain is still Christian country
Gordon Brown has insisted that Britain remains a Christian country and defended the right of worshippers to express their faith in public.
The Prime Minister claimed the country´s values are still based on traditional religious teachings, and said it would be wrong if the devout were forced to keep their beliefs private.
His comments, made in an interview with a Christian radio station, come amid growing concern that public sector employees are being punished for acting according to their faith.
In Britain we are not a secular state as France is, or some other countries. It´s true that the role of official institutions changes from time to time, but I would submit that the values that all of us think important – if you held a survey around the country of what people thought was important, what it is they really believed in, these would come back to Judeo-Christian values, and the values that underpin all the faiths that diverse groups in our society feel part of."

So, what´s wrong with that? Turkey may say it´s secular but in daily life it is not.

Of course it is! That´s why non-Christians are oppressed, can´t build mosques, synagogues or temples, can´t marry more than one person, kill others if they had pre-marital sex or have an abortion. How backward is that?! I am trully outraged!

Is that an example of religious intolerance? Silly me thought that it was a bunch of jobless punks who blamed losing their jobs on immigrants. Just to fill you in, those guys also called for Poles to leave the NI - pretty weird as Poles are considered to be a predominantly Christian nation. Besides, I haven´t found even one piece of an official statement saying those guys did a good thing protecting NI´s religious homogenity. Au contraire, offical statements were clear in their message against such incidents. So, again, what´s your point?

Gypsies generally adopt the religion of the country they live in, that´s why if they´re from Romania, they most likely were Christian.
Still, you haven´t provided me a link explaining that it was an official action of a country, not an incident condemned by the state

Let me think...how about Saudi? I´m not 100% sure but since the state kills for converting from Islam, anything is possible...
Anyways, you said that the British PM called the UK a Christian country and then you gave an example of an act of violence that has nothing to do with your initial post. Just to remind you, you´re talking about the country that introduced sharia law and Jewish courts. How intolerant of them
