UKIP and racist leaflets
The UKIP leaflet on the Lisbon Treaty, which is reproduced on the website www.euinfo.ie, alleges Lisbon gives the EU full control of immigration and warns that Turkey’s entry to the EU will lead to more mass migration of cheap labour. It portrays an image of a turkey with a medallion around its neck with the message: “Free movement for 75 million people.”

Do you think so? I bet anything you like there will be restrictions on Turks entering the UK just like those for Romania and Bulgaria (UKBA has those details). And there are other EU states that have entry restrictions, so it wont be a clear cut mass migration into the EU.
Besides it is cold and wet in Ireland, ask DD

@ Tami - worse! They´re Catholic
@Teas - do they have grass? Actually there´s hardly anything else than grass here Ireland is like one huge pasture with charming low stone fences. But drinking is something they enjoy way more than mowing the lawn so go figure
@ TheH - tell me the time and location and I´ll be there - worry not about pebbles/gravel/shoes - I shall bring dirty nappies That´ll teach them
The posters (and tones of leaflets I find in my mailbox every day) are just a campaign again Lisbon Treaty. They use nonsensical arguments for people with Tami´s way of reasoning. Bulgaria and Romania have restrictions on migrating to Ireland and it´s pretty tough for them to find a job. If Turkey got accepted into EU I´m sure most countries would keep restrictions for them as well. They saw what happened when they opened the border and job market for Poles and Lithuanians They´re afraid of another flood of cheap workforce

The party whose posters you were commenting on was against Poles in EU and against Bulgaria and Romania. They are against Eu itself if I´m not mistaken It´s The Treaty Campaign - some parties are in favour and some are against - it´s not a unison voice of Ireland that says "We don´t want to sign the Treaty for fear of Muslims" - if you remember, an anti-blasphemy law was passed here that goes to ALL religions, not only Catholicism. The irish are a nice bunch of people, no matter how hard you want to make people believe otherwise.

here is a quote from the leaflets of christian nazist party of england (bnp);
"oppose the dangerous drive to give 80 million Muslim Turks the right to swamp Britain"
Just because their counterparts in ireland didnt use the word "muslim" doesn`t make what you say true.

Are you asking whether this statement is racist? yeap, it sure is, but that´s what populist parties do - operate on the emotions of simple people. I wanted to draw your attention to the fact that they are also against other nations, some of them sharing the same religion so where´s logic in what you´re accusing them of?
Also, it is a party that is in minority and you sound like it was what Irish majority sound like. Whatever sounds more shocking, huh?
The bottom line is, they want to scare people by implying bigger immigration flow, not by scaring them with virgin-loving followers of Mohhamet.
A lovely discussion is here:

Tami, bloody hell, you are annoying me now and that takes some doing!!!! Yes you are right the BNP do oppose immigration - ALL IMMIGRATION and the BNP are a very small minority in the UK. And where the hell do you get the idea that the BNP are Christians??? They are scum.
Ireland has been hit hardest by the recession and there are not enough jobs for those that live there so what would happen to the new migrants?? The Romanians were living on round-a-bouts in the middle of roads and most were expartriated because they could not get jobs. So what is the point of moving to a country where you CANT GET A JOB!
As for Ireland they are kicking up abpout the Treaty of Lisbon which gives Brussels the right to more ruling over what Ireland does and it has nothing to do with Muslims. They have already voted against it once and it was a resounding no.
I am totally offended by the implication you are making that we (UK) are all BNP supporters. It is time you started to bang another drum. Go watch the Teletubbies or something.

I will let you know for sure about the demo..But just make sure we have enough ammunition though..Just keep feeding your little terrorist..
Of course you are right about the generalisation of this type of reasoning... Actually, the way those racists are opposing Islam and muslims is exactly the same as some people opposing to Christianity and Christians..
Their wave length is the same.. Both parties are eating from the same bawl..
The only difference happens to be the countries they live, are not the same or their religions are different..
See what Grand Mufti of Jerusalem said years ago: "Racists of the world Unite You have nothing to lose but your slip shorts only!"

Basically the bottom line is racist people and racist ideologies scare people with something.
You have to "have an enemy"..
That is the common dominator among racists..
This happens to be Turks, islam and imigration for racists of Ireland...
In Turkey the racist propaganda is about the wicked evil west (and sometimes the entire world against Turkey) for example.
A BNP racist is not a worse racist because of he happens to be British comparing to a Turkish racist or an American racist.
I am sure their level of understanding the world is the same..So as their IQ in general..

Tami, read about why the invasion started - it has nothing to do with religion but money and influence. Are you really that ignorant you don´t want to acknowledge that?
Wars between Christians? What about Serbia? And what about the evil Nazi Christian Europe supporting the hatered Bosnian Muslims? What about the World Wars? nazi Christians attacking other Nazi Christians? Must have been for difference of Bible translations
Tami, it´s 21st century and the world is about money. Not religion. That plays little part in any western country´s foreign policy. But, apparently, it´s the only way you can believe you have an idea about politics. You want to explain everything with religion and it´s not working. Sure, there are people who hate other people for religious reasons. But no western country (all of which grant religious freedom) is at war with another country for religious reasons.
But of course you´ll still believe otherwise

yea yea, the war was based on the imaginary destruction weapons of Saddam, right? but when it became apparent that it was just a christian lie by america, they started to say they were to bring democracy to iraq. and now this? we don`t take these lies anymore. the christians invaded iraq because the christians wanted that. and guess what, if you`re a political party and you want to get votes, you have to do what the people want. people wanted america to kill muslims and the american govt. did so to get votes. if you`re still saying it was for money show us how america benefited from the invasion financially. I have to remind you that the oil price has gone up after the invasion.

What Turkish racists say about Kurds or the Armenians can beat many of the racists in EU countries...
And more over, you would be surprised to see the level of normality they will show..
They will call it nationalism for example..
Racism is not only whites to blacks, western to eastern in EU only..
In Turkey all the racists are against the west for example..In the end racism is the idea of "us and them"
Us can be muslims against Christians. Us happened to be ´Christians against Turks and Muslims" in BNP and Irish case.
They way they see the world and the ´others´ is the same..
Scratch a BNP guy who hates muslims, you will find a very similar guy who hates Christians or anything western in Turkey..
They are exactly the same!!

And here we go again, Tami´s ridiculous theory of Christian coalition...So, you think that one day, Christians gathered round a table and thought - "hey! Let´s invade a Muslim country. Any country will do really. Let´s do it because they´re not Christians!" And then they decide to force a few Muslims on flying course to killl a few thousand American citizens to have an excuse. Later, they declare war on terrorism, enter Iraq and convert Muslims into Christianity. Right. We all saw it happen.
The US never wanted to have more influence in the Middle East, never wanted to pass contracts on oil. Never wanted to strategically take the attention off Israel. No! They were just about religion. A nation granting freedom of faith within its own borders suddenly feels the need to give a smack to Muslims living a few thousands kilometres away. What logic!
I´ll repeat myself again:
1. Tami says bad things about DD
2. DD hits Tami with a baseball bat
3. Tami accuses DD of attacking him on the grounds of religious hatered as:
a) although DD is an atheist she was born in Europe and if she was born in Europe she is Christian
b) Tami is an Alevi
c) logically DD´s attack was for religious reasons
See - that´s your reasoning. So, if somebody steals your car - it´s because of your religion, right? I´m not sure you´ve heard about other places on Earth that the US invaded or forced to follow its policy by means of murder, blackmail or whatever. Google for American crimes and you´ll see it´s not only Muslims they´ve been at war with.
Besides, even the fact that evil west supports Israel clearly shows how little influence religion has on politics - after all, weren´t Jews the ones who murdered Christian God?
You´re trying to stir up controversy by means of simplification, lack of common sense and knowledge. It´s kind of childish and tedious

right, just because all the countries that invaded Iraq are christian, it doesn`t mean anything. it`s just a coincidence.
if six muslim countries get together, invade a christian country, kill hundreds of thousands of christians
that`s called a muslim invasion and a christian genocide
if six christian countries get together, invade a muslim country, kill hundreds o thousands of muslims.
that`s called a coincidence
And then they decide to force a few Muslims on flying course to killl a few thousand American citizens to have an excuse.
yea yea, you`re definitely right, they also forced those muslims to put a few tons of nano-thermites in the building for an unknown reason, although just the jet fuel would have been enough to demolish destroy that building.

You know what irritates me? People who talk about EU stuff and have no knowledge about the history of the EU. Ireland is one of the countries that had the most benefit from the EU when it entered, with HUGE amounts of money being pumped into the country to develop it (just like for example Spain) It´s a bit silly to be helped by an organization, for years and years and YEARS get more money from the organization then putting money into it. And then when other countries want to enter it, who are in the same position as your own country was not so long ago, go "oh nooo, we don´t want those people in our little group"

I´m a fairly fair maiden who just ...sort of tricked... her Turkish guy into buying her a golden ring Good education works much better then stupid advertising. Give a girl a brain, and she will fend off all the duduism!
By the way...don´t you all think that wearing a single golden ring just looks silly... I mean, it will look much better with a matching necklace or earrings, right?

Ireland joined EU ,well at that time european economic community,in 1973 together with Britain -do you know that Britain was rejected 3 times, must have been all of AE)))and Denmark,it must have been an act of good will of Brits not to oppose this country to join.
In 1990s the country gripped by powerty and conflicts and emigration for most of its existence became with EU support one of the fastest growing economies in the world obtaining nickname of Celtic tiger in 2000.Really impressive-moving from EU funds recipient to a net contributor, and from country of emigrants to a country of immigrants. It seems to me Irish do not want to remember who helped them opposing new waves of labour force and new members in EU.

merhaba arkadaþýmlar, dia duit a chairde, hello my friends
Im ally, i am new to this site and i am using it to learn to speak turkish so i can converse with my friends in turkey
I read this thread last nite and wasnt going to comment on it but i found i couldnt rest easy until i got some things off my chest
i just wonder do you not think its a bit hypocritical to berate irish people for supposed ´racism´ only to hit back with some racism towards irish people??!! two wrongs dont make a right!!!!
You must understand that just because some ignorant small minded people send leaflets to irish homes doesnt mean that they speak for every irish person, this is like saying one muslim extremist speaks for every muslim person or that one ku klux klan member speaks for every white christian in the west, this is crazy, the reason this leaflet was sent out was because certain campaigners on the no side realised they were losing and it was an ill thought out devious and despicable ploy to prey on the fears of the normal, put upon irish people of losing their jobs, ireland has had a major influx of immigrant workers in the last few years, this influx was mismanaged by our government leading to a lot of immigrant workers being wrongly taken advantage of for cheap labour by greedy bosses this in turn led to irish workers being forced out of jobs, this is what the leaflet was basing itself on, more cheap labour when our economy is already suffering due to the recession (ireland being a country hardest hit by the recession). however irish people were offended by this type of campaigning and obviously didnt buy into it.
Ireland is a multi cultutral and neutral society, which tolerates and welcomes people from every race and religion, irish people on the whole are very intolerent of racism in any form, we are neutral and do not take part in any wars, obviously as in any culture you get a minority of people who are ignorant and bigoted and think only their way is right, but this is in every country, what can be done wit these people??!!
i do not wish to speak for every person in ireland but in my experience irish people in general do not think in terms of religion, it never really enters our consciousness´ whatever religion, race, colour u are, if you are a nice person thats all that is important to us, myself personally i have many turkish friends and i never think of them in terms of what religion they are only that they are good nice people and are my friends
the people involved in this leaflet and campaign have brought shame to my country and have tarnished irelands reputation, and i want to apologise for the tone of the campaign and for the offence caused, please dont think that it represents how irish people think
and i just want to say that contrary to this post, i am generally not an angry or too serious person i just felt the need to defend my country. i am just a simple, ´wannabe sophisticated´ irish cailin, who like many irish people probably drinks way too much and im always well up for the craic (fun and good times) haha

I couldn´t agree more with what you said. I´ve been living in Ireland for over 2 years now and I´ve never experienced any problems because of my nationality or religion (or the lack of thereof)

Gypsies face Northern Ireland ethnic violence
Thursday, June 18, 2009
The thugs used bricks and bottles to drive more than 100 Romanian Gypsies from their homes in a wave of attacks. On Wednesday, the victims were sheltering in a community center after a church plucked them off a Belfast street.
About 20 Romanian families, carrying their belongings in suitcases, duffel bags and blankets, were being sheltered on the community center´s indoor tennis courts. One man carried an accordion, while parents gripped the hands of young children and some women covered their heads with jackets and sweaters to avoid being photographed.
The families were taken in by the City Church on Tuesday after youths attacked their homes in a working-class neighborhood of south Belfast, smashing windows and hurling threats. Local authorities moved them to the roomier community center Wednesday morning. Some said the attackers had guns, but there were no reports of serious injuries.
"They made signs like they wanted to cut my brother´s baby´s throat," said one man, Couaccusil Filuis. "They said they wanted to kill us."

, Ally, I see you´ve just had the pleasure of meeting MHSN Supertits who considers everyone born in Europe and the USA a Christian Natzi on constant search of foreigners to kill. He´s a brave boy as he left his safe Muslim Turkey and moved to the Evil States of America where he´s fighting his war mostly alone at home. MHSN (aka Tamikidakika) takes incidents such as the one he quoted as a general rule. The bottom line is - you´re Irish=You´re Christian=You´re a Natzi=You beat Romanian Gypsies. Don´t argue with him, you´re part of the global conspiracy aimed at dividing Turkey/destroying Islam/forcing the whole world to be Christian. How does he know that? My guess is he had an asbestos roof at home when he was a child

Firstly, this is NORTHERN IRELAND ie. they are BRITISH not THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND who are IRISH!!!!!!!!!! so this incident has nothing to do with IRISH PEOPLE who i was refering to, who i am!!
secondaly, note it was the CHURCH who took them in!!!!!!!!
thirdly i just wanted to point out what i said in my first post :-
