The glories of Istanbul have arrived in Paris.

From white marble statues of Greek and Roman gods to gleaming medieval Christian icons to a huge red Ottoman tent, an exhibition devoted to Istanbul seeks to expand French awareness of the city´s multicultural heritage in a country deeply skeptical of Turkey´s European aspirations.

What a great exhibition!  I have been to similar types of exhibitions in the British Museum and they are wonderfully done.  I searched on La Monde and not a thing about it, so did a search for the Grand Palais.  There is just a small piece and the weblink does not work.

Thanks Roswitha for posting! Big smile

It is the season of turkey in france july 2009-march 2010, the program of all cultural activities were announced in july and are posted online including the exhibition at Grand palais (De Byzance à Istanbul Un port pour deux continents) and illuminating the eiffel tower with the colors of turkey (red /white)That is why you did not find it in "Le Monde"
