This is a great place to start.  I have also had good luck with Rosetta Stone (not everyone does, though and it is a bit expensive).  I found the easiest way for me (everyone is different) is to just learn some vocabulary first.  I made a flashcards and went over and over them until I remembered them.

One thing to remember is that people in Turkey are fairly willing to help you if you know a few basic words.  It isn´t difficult to make yourself understood.  For me, the speaking is the biggest challenge...but I can manage a few words to get my point across.

I think if you live there, emmersed in the language, you will learn quickly.  Turkish is a nice language to learn.  It follows easy to learn rules with few, if any irregularities and is very phonetic.
