I have been told that reading baby/childrens books in turkish will help me with building my vocabulary and making sentences as it did when i was a baby learning english. Does anyone know where i can find any short stories online or to be bought online, because i cant find any..??

I recommend you use real learning materials. Don´t just read and listen or don´t just listen and repeat, but also answer these stories aloud! Study each story again and again until you answer the questions easily and fast. Enjoy learning Turkish.

I am planning to visit a big book store here in Ankara this weekend. I´ll try to remember to take my camera with me and upload the pictures to a photo sharing page. If you guys find something interesting, there´s a chance that I´ll be kind enough to send it. We´ll see.

I have a little surprise for you. I found a short story for children, hanging aroung on our bookself. It was a free attachment to a newspaper. It´s very easy to understand and the illustrations are lovely. It also contains several sentences in past and future tense.
You can download the pages by clicking on the numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Please let me know if the links don´t work.
I´ll be back with more next month.
Have fun!

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to share a wonderful web page, to which I came across by googling. I love learning Turkish language by reading stories and translating them. Therefore, I visit this web page regularly ( http://www.canim.net/hikaye/). There are thousands of stories shared by the members of the web page, who can be pretty helpful and funny in same time, to be read. However, I would like to "warn" you about all that "spelling mistakes" you might come across by reading. However, most of them are so obvious even for beginning readers in tr, as I am.
Anyways,
Take care.

I would just like to point out that when we grow up, we can no longer learn and absorbe a language the way we could as infants and young children. All we can do is mimic that by surrounding ourselves in the language if possible but as adults we have all the technical aspects of learning we obtained through the rest of school and into adulthood that can get in the way.
If you read a childrens story in Turkish,as an adult, its still a good supplement to learn but it won´t teach you the same way as when you were a child. All it is then, is a story that uses very simple words and grammar. Just my thoughts.
