Hi all,
With my trip to Istanbul in June coming up I am travelling from the U.K. Is it still the custom to present the Turkish authorities with a clean crisp £10 note to arrive in the country?

Hope you enjoy your trip.

But dont forget, that if you travel back to Turkey within three months of the issue of your last visa, and that old visa has enough time to cover your latest trip, you dont need to pay for another one! (apart from the tenner, it saves you queueing up for another)

Yes, it is on the left as you approach passport control. If you are like us, we were the ONLY ones in the queue as everyone else didn't know about it and started to go through passport control only to be sent back!! And they have always smiled when they take the crisp tenner and stamp your passport

Greetings,
this £10 is for sticker type visa. Remember that we Turks have to pay much more than this for a visa if we want to travel to the UK.
Details for UK travelers can be found here:
http://www.gototurkey.co.uk/index.php?submen=173&menu_id=173
"Sticker type visas are issued at the port of entry and allow staying in Turkey for up to 90 days. It costs £10 for UK and €10 for Irish passport holders."
If you are coming from another country check if your country is listed here in this official website on "where are you coming from" section.
