I am going  to England  for ten days.

I have a Turkish passport.

Turkish citizens cannot go to England without visa.

The British Embassy is in Ankara.

I have applied the embassy for a visa.

General Visa  Requirements: British Visa application Forms

- fully completed visa application form
- two passport photographs
- valid national passport & one copy
- original of valid resident visa
- confirmation letter from your health insurance coverage & one copy
- proof of group travel/hotel  booking in United Kingdom

- air-line reservation for United Kingdom & one copy

- current bank statement & one copy

- current real estate  statement & one copy
- reference letter from your education institution
- visa fees for British Visa : 170 TL

Do British citizens are required to provide these same documents and forms as legally while entering Türkiye as Tourist?

Citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, USA and other EU countries who are in possession of a valid passport of their country do not need a visa for airport transit, tourist or business trips (for stays up to 90 days) in United Kingdom.

Bilindiği üzere, uluslararası hukukta karşılıklılık (mütekabiliyet esası ) kuralı vardır. Bu genel kabul gören hukuk normuna göre, devletler, vize işlemlerini karşılıklılık esasına göre uygulamaya koyar. uluslararası anlaşmalar uyarınca, vize uygulayan ülkeye aynı koşullar çerçevesinde vize uygulanır, vize uygulamayan ülkeye de aynı koşullar çerçevesinde vize uygulanmaz.Evrensel hukuk kuralı ve diplomatik usul budur.

What do you think about this point as international law?

First we need to translate above paragraph:

As it is known, there is a principle called reciprocity in international law. According to this generally accepted law standard, nations follow the principle of reciprocity when putting visa procedures in effect. In line with, international treaties, (nations require the same visa formalities of the citizens of a nation which requires a visa from the subjects of the other party. Where a nations requires no visa, similarly the subjects of that nation are not required of a visa. These matters are thusly arranged in line with universal laws and diplomatic procedures.

The problem is there is probably more hype in international law and diplomatic procedures than anything else.

We do require a visa of German citizens but this is only on paper. Because we also do our best to ensure that potential German tourits are not discouraged in any way. There is a well known proverb in Turkish: one who plans to steal a minaret will arrange the sack to fit it in. So, the obligatory visas are served at the airports. It is easy to get them as it is to get boarding passes.

This all things are because of our idiotic governments. In international affairs reciprocity should be strictly followed. Today foreign tourists have much cheaper holidays in luxury hotels than a regular Turkish citizen living in Turkey. When a Turk wants to stay in those hotels, price maybe doubled or tripled in some cases or Turks are not able find vacancies. All governments say the reason is to invite more foreign tourists which sounds really nonsense to me. Turks cannot enjoy a holiday in their own country as much as a tourist can which makes me angry. Tourism industry is a big balloon in Turkey(small amount of gnp). I dont  care if tourists prefer Spain, Greece or other touristic countries when the conditions are changed, in fact i think it will be better and then Turks can enjoy holidays in their own country...

Mutually, respectful and legally, not one-way international law.

Because they are coming to spend money in Turkey to buy houses in resort places..to make hotels, beaches...bars and discotecs full...for turkish who work there to have jobs.

To answer your question Yilgun, we do not need to produce anything to get a visa for Turkey.  We arrive at a Turkish airport and produce a crisp £10, hand it to the clerk who then sticks a little visa in our passport and stamps it.  That is valid for 3 months.

I have written several times on the forum about the new Points Based System when non-EEA citizens wish to travel to the UK.  It is much more difficult to come to the UK now unless you live in the EEA countries and you can travel freely.

The reason they ask for all these documents, it is so they believe you will return to Turkey once your vacation or trip is finished.  There has been problems in the past where particulary those from the Kurdish regions of Turkey, come to the UK on the pretence of a holiday but not returning to Turkey and remaining as an illegal immigrant in the UK.

I hope you do get your visa and have a lovely trip to the UK.  Please don´t come right now as we have snow and ice and it is freezing cold!!!!!  Wait until the weather is better {#emotions_dlg.satisfied_nod}

It is because of Turkish citizens who have in the past abused simpler visa rules. The number of illegals in certain countries is crazy, and the number of guys who try to get into the country through some old lonely woman is even crazier. It´s a few bad people who mess it up for the rest. It´s always like this with any rule or law.

If you see how the ambassies work... they check the age, and they check the gender first. Young male, you´ll have a higher chance of getting denied. No matter what all of your other papers say. If you´re an old Turkish lady, the chance of denial is much much smaller. It is clear that it´s not about keeping Turkish people in general out of Western European countries, since it´s also clear that the rules do not even apply the same for all Turkish people.

Thank you very much to libralady for  the  useful information and  good recommendation.

And thank you very much to vineyards, armegon, ReyhanL and barba_mama for their good contributions.

I understand the reason.

Some people go to United Kingdom  and other European countries  for illegal  purposes.

And this illegality  damages the Türkiye´s esteem and Turkish people’s esteem.

A sad state of affairs...

It irritates me so much. I have seen people who have a mixed relationship, a Turkish boy with a Dutch girl, who are REALLY in love and REALLY want to share their life together. It is sooo hard for them to be together.

On the other hand, I´ve also seen boys who have permanent visa´s for Holland show eachother messages of different older ladies who would all send them money in the summer, and in the winter they would go to Holland and live of the money of one of them, sometimes taking a short "holiday" to see their families...well, not really...to see their other "ladies"...

The first group of honest guys have to suffer because of the other group.
