11th January 2010
A group of Muslim men who branded British soldiers "murderers", "baby killers" and "rapists" at a homecoming parade, have been found guilty of public order offences at Luton Magistrates Court.

Jalal Ahmed, 21, Yousaf Bashir, 29, Ziaur Rahman, 32, Shajjadar Choudhury, 31, Munim Abdul, 28, were found guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour likely to cause harassment and distress.

Angry scenes broke out at the parade, which saw soldiers from the 2nd Battallion Royal Anglian Regiment march through Luton following service in Iraq and Afghanistan on March 10 last year, as the group turned out to protest against the legitimacy of the two conflicts.

The group were each handed a two year conditional discharge and ordrered to pay £500 each in costs

Often times people are very emotional about soldiers in their country, what do you think a reaction in Turkey would be if Kurdish people would say such things to Turkish soldiers?

It is very sad and funny for me to see Turkish people or really any people to criticize other people´s behavior, while they are VERY defensive about their own mistakes. You should really focus more on your own and your countries problems because that´s what you can actually change.

Anyway, unfortunately, what these muslim men and women had said about the soldiers is true, although I´m sure that the soldiers believe they went to the war with best intentions..

Where is the "insulting Britishness" part though?

Where is the "insulting Britishness" part though?

1- our soldiers are not in a mission of invading a country and genociding its people.

2-the Kurds already do express their hatred for Turkey by waving pkk flags in demostrations, chanting slogans for Abdullah Ocalan, burning Turkish flags, stoning the shops and cars. and nothing happens to them.

3-if the muslim in england chanted slogans for Laden, I`m sure they would either get shot or get sentenced to life time torture in Guantanamo.

where is the insulting Britishness part?

what did these men charged for? they didn`t attack anyone, they just expressed their opinions about the christian invaders. so where is the so called christian freedom of speech?

and if they didn`t get charged with insulting britishness then for what reason they got charged?

They were not charged with insulting Britishness. Every demonstration in the U.K. has to be anounced and a permit needs to be given. These men did not do this, so, following the basic laws that are there for EVERYBODY (Hindus, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, etc.) they were arrested.

There have been people that HAVE chanted things about Bin Laden. They have not been shot, they have not been send to any kind of "Bay". They have been under suspiscion though, which is totally logical. If you say "hey, that guy who wants to kill everybody in this country is my idol!" then the police needs to check you out.

And nothing happens to Kurdish people who throw stones? Please, get your head out of the sand...

I think most countries have penalty procedures against people who incite hatered. You may protest against everything and everyone as long as you do not call for hate and are not violent.

Some people support the war with the east, some don´t. Unfortunately it´s not by means of pubic vote that a county´s participation in warfare is decided.

I understand the frustration and anger towards the British soldiers. If I was there, I´m sure I´d be saying the same thing.

in other words, they got charched with insulting Britain, as there was no violence involved.

yes I know, your idea of what is freedom of speech is; when you insult muslims, its freedom of speech, when you insult christians or jews, its antisemtism and terrorism.

Nope, it´s the freedom to criticise everyone and everything that you don´t like/don´t approve of. Be it the Pope, the religion, army or country. It´s the choice of how you express it that is debatable with you

...do you really think all the British soldiers are Christians and Jews? I know for a fact that this is not true. So this discussion has nothing to do with insulting a religion.

By the way... I missed you {#emotions_dlg.love}

That´s a very good question and I would love to hear an answer. After all, if they were given right to protest, they shouldn´t be punished for it.

If you´re planning a protest, you simply apply for permission to the local authorities, present the protest´s schedule and resources to be used and that´s it.

BM - don´t try to explain this thing to Tami. If you´re European or, god forbid, American, you´re a Christian. And if you´re Christian you´re nazi lol I think it goes for some of the proterters as they have British citizenship. So, they seem to be nazi Christian Muslims. Offf the world´s complicated lol

yeah they are in no way christians

Quote:

A true event takes on a life of its own on the web, when the Pentagon orders the destruction of a number of Bibles that were printed in languages native to Afghanistan and sent to a soldier by his church. The destruction order came just days after a damaging video was released by Al Jazeera showing a Chaplain urging soldiers to ‘hunt people for Jesus’ (a metaphor of course for souls). Some groups took the opportunity to lay the blame on President Obama and ‘Anti-Christian’ forces.

what were the bibles in Afghan language for, eh? and why did they burn them to cover it up
?

right, the christian invaders are in no way christians. it`s just a coincidence that 6 christian countries come together and invade muslim countries.

Im sure if 6 muslim countries came together and invaded a christian country, you wouldn`t associate them with islam either. why? Because christians are not hypocrites!!!

What´s wrong with sharing a bible? A muslim person gave me a Quran in Dutch, and I thought that was a nice gift.... I didn´t think anything bad of it.

And I´m just saying that if you say ALL British soldiers are bad, you´re not saying anything about Christian soldier in particular, since not ALL British soldiers are Christian. It´s simple reasoning, my love.

they feel insecure at the sight of something alien. they take it as an offence and attack to their religion.

basically everything or anything can stir a problem. if a foreigner gives a book or a picture it may be taken as an invasion.

they are very very insecure! full of complexes mixed with fear, pride and prejudice.

hahaha, now we learn that those bibles translated into the Afghan language were just supposed to be a kind gift from the super kind christian soldiers to the Afghans.

It`s apparent that christian should work more on rhetoric{#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

Like I said before... I´m not a Christian...so it isn´t Christian rethoric when I apply some rethorics. So, should I distrust the Muslim who gave me a Quran?
