Dear Lemon, I know exactly what you mean. Most but not all arab man are that way. They´re just scared that women might kick their butts, so they try to keep us in the dark. I´ve been an instructor for an international course for six years so I had to deal with some of their wonderful personality (being sarcastic here). However, just because they are closed minded does not mean we have to be. We westerners are quite flexible, we can adapt quickly even to ancient traditions and customs, all it takes is the wish and a little research. I think the guest and sight seeing part will be more enjoyable also.

I guess there are always some people who don´t like to make any adjustments what so ever on their travels. Why else would you see an entire Dutch village in Kemer, Turkey? With windmill and everything...
In every group of people you have some who like to put their fingers in their ears and scream "lalalala" all the time, just to make sure they don´t get any influence from outside cultures. And there are also always some who are curious, and indulge in other cultures... and there are also always some who just go a bit too far with the indulging When I go to Turkey I don´t become a Turk I´m a Dutch girl who adjusts bits and pieces of herself to fit the place she is visiting. When I go to a small Turkish village, I won´t put on my skinny jeans... but I won´t put on a flowery skirt and headscarf either!
