I lived in Antalya for a period of 6/7 months and would say there are very few negatives to the time I spent there. I lived in the city which is a lovely city and has both modern centre and lovely old Kaleici which is a maze of little cobble streets leading down to the harbour ( tip. dont drink to much first time you visit I made this error and could not find a way out lol ). The city has many natural beautys itself the sea and beach areas and waterfalls while the whole time you are able to see the back drop of the Tauras mountains. The mountains are a lovely area to explore in themselves so if you have a car get out there.  The people are same as everywhere some good some bad, but what place isn´t like this.  I often visited the Uni which was near my house and this is nice and the people were great, they have mnany social things which are good to join. Transport is good and easy to get around the city. I would say go for it  and enjoy   Antalya is also near many other nice places that can be visited so on your days off make sure to get out there.

sorry but who can know what dangers you will face. It is really no different a place than any other city so you would face similar issues.  It depends what kind of person you are and what situations you may place yourself in.  Of course the obvious problem will be language,  and also you will be initially isolated so will be dependant upon your boyfriend .

I think the most important thing is to try and not be dependent on him. When you have somebody around you to translate for you, there is less of an incentive to go out, meet new people and learn the language. It´s a nice opportunity to learn a lot by going to another country, and Antalya is a great city. But keep in mind that you should really go to learn a lot, experience a lot, and live a lot

Bad things, well, they´re like any other big city...and Antalya is a big city. There are some crappy neighborhoods where you don´t want to live, but being part of an Erasmus program also includes a lot of support in finding a place to live. Perhaps you´ll stay with your boyfriend, if he already has a place right now. But it still might be smart to have a back up You never know how it will be if you are around eachother for such a long period Also, it will take some time before you´re not seen as one of those tourist anymore. When you´re on holiday it´s okay if people hassle you a bit to buy souveniers... when you´re there for a month already the hassling gets irritating.

In any case, you must use your brain like in any other country and any other city, but no big hazards that you need to worry about.

I like Antalya despite the number of Russians there.A bit expensive compared to other nearby places but still Akdeniz university is well located with many things happening around, the city is a perfect place for exploring Turkish beaches and cultural heritage.People are like everywhere, some very nice some pushy but the sea great making you swim in late October and early April, food excellent and really cheap if you leave most popular streets, nice music clubs and weather..I have never had problems in this city despite being damn light blond, well my friends say it is because of my Turkish ,which softens and surprises people.I don´t know..anyway,personally I have no negative experiences with the city.Nobody wanted to cheat me on,on the contrary everybody was helpful and well mannered.
