Please can someone advise me on the use of PAYG dongles in Turkey?  Which has the best coverage; cover in Sakarya region; costs etc.

Many thanks in advance

 PAYG = pay as you go. Not a contract one  and yes its a internet connection stick.

Sorry, I remained signed in but was looking at another site.  Yes it´s Pay As You Go on a stick .  I´ve just done a little (very little) research and it seems dongles are only offered on contracts, so probobly not an option for me.

Sorry, but are you refeerring to the device/usb stick itself or together with it, the service provider as well? I mean, are you looking for, say, LG dongle or LG Dongle together with the service provider (TurkTelekom)? If the latter, then I guess you could still get as PAYG but probably no choice about the brand of the device/dongle (since the service provider made already an agreement with the dongle producer, like the case here where I live).

As a technopleb, I haven´t a clue what i mean .  I was assuming I would pay the service provider and they can provide me with whatever dongle they stock.  In the UK I think the initial payment for the dongle is about £20, then users top up as and when needed. It can be for a day, a week or a month I think.  You´re in the UK aren´t you?

I don´t think this type of service is available in Turkey yet. I think it can only be bought on contract and the initial layout is about 200-250TL . . .  from what I´ve read elsewhere this evening, but I may be wrong.

I have just had a quick look at the website of one of the service providers (Vodafone) in Turkey. Though no detailed information there, it seems you can only buy on contract, so you are right here. But I guess the cost would consist of only dongle device + a SIM-card + daily/monthly service price - in any case, it would´n reach at 200-250 TL. I think, if you have already a dongle, all you would need is just a SIM-card of the service provider (e.g. Turkcell, Vodafone) and to make a conract (not sure though, if based on monthly). The conract doesn´t seem to be a big burden, either. They just require a filled form, your passport and a copy of your passport.

If you have a friend there in Turkey, I suggest you to visit a service provider center with your friend for detailed information. Or let me know if I could be of further help to you.

No, I am not in the UK. But here I had to buy a dongle and a SIM-card as well and pay for monthly internet service and as far as I know, you cannot buy a daily/weekly/monthly service without a contract, either.

I had this question too for about one year, and nobody seemed to be able to give me an answer But let me check if I understand the last post and link correctly. You buy a dongle for 99 lira, and after that you can just get pre-paid credit (like you normally do with a phone) to use the internet?

99TL initial outlay seems a lot for PAYGo. I wouldn´t really want to enter into a contract in Turkey.  This is more the type of thing I had in mind:

My friends have wireless internet in their homes in Turkey, I just thought I would see if I could buy a cheap PAYGo for when I´m not staying with them.  Connection is not always good in hotels.

Thanks anyway everyone .

We don´t need words. No excuses, either. If you have a free place in your train, just let me in and take me wherever and whenever you go. I wouldn´t make a single word, just enjoy the travel looking and watching through the window in silence till you would come and tell me it is the last station and time for me to get out the train.

Is your train decorated, possibly painted with millions of the peace-colours?

It is already quite late and this station, in which I have been waiting for the train, is getting cold. Don´t make me wait too long please, and don´t pass me by, either.

See you tomorrow then.

peacetrain - having waited here, I have turned into a snowman! Shall I continue to wait for you, or return home with the next train, putting so-called romance aside? {#emotions_dlg.bigsmile}

Ahh, peacetrain, I actually wanted to leave my childhood behind, hence my toys there! Those days you were all I had. Once I called you ´Clementine´ but you feared and left.
